Right so - we have a busy week :) First up is the societies EGM, starting at 6PM this thursday. We need several positions filled and so far here are the people who have voluntered for them :) First Year Liason : Shane Gormley, Keith O'Sullivan Film Officer : Edward Collins Public Relations Officer : Keith O'Sullivan Also up is the position Pre Con Director. This person should be aiming for chair next, just to make things alot easier. They will start organising EirtaKon for next year - decieding what positions are needed.. start an advertisment campaign.. etc Right now no one has applied for this position. Unlike the committee positions, the PCD does not require people to give a weeks notice to run. So anyone interested say so on the forum or can simply stand up on thursday :) And now for the showings! 7pm Blood+ Ep. 5-7 Throughout the passage of time and the shifts in backgrounds, a particular war continues to leave its mark on history, extending its influence into the modern world. There are two major groups involved in the ensuring war. The first group consists of monsters known as Chiropterans who can change their appearances into that of human beings. They are actually immortals who feed on the blood of the living. The second group is an organisation known as the "Red Shield", formed to track down these monsters and exterminate them. Otonashi Saya is a high-school girl who lives a peaceful life with her family. The only problem is, she has no recollections of her life beyond that of the past year. However, her happy life will be destroyed by an event that will lead her to her destined fate. 9pm Gunslinger Girl Ep. 1-3 "Henrietta" was an innocent little girl when her entire family was massacred and she was left for dead. She was rescued by a privately-owned social welfare organization and given cybernetic components over her battered body. Brainwashed by the organization, she and four other girls now work as cold-blooded assassins, doing the dirty work for the Italian government. As usual, refreshments provided - look forward to everyone coming along! Librarians

Ah something I forgot in the last email! Despite how the library is currently being run..its not really the way it was planned :) The website hosts the online library - http://www.redbrick.dcu.ie/~ams/library where members can view, comment and also mark in advance which books they would like to take out. Thing is we just dont have the time right now to keep this up-to-date and to have the librarian(s) keeping the books aside.. so anyone want to be a librarian? :) This isnt a committee posistion, but it is voted in. Anyone can be a librarian as long as they are in DCU currently. You will be helping Lev, "Master Chief Librarian", with signing out books and managing the online system - we will show you how to use it :) Work wise there is next to nothing, currently the librarians are Lev as the committee librarian, and myself and colin (pazuzu) as ordinary librarians. Thursday's Showings, EGM and EirtaKon 2006

Hey guys, Well EirtaKon is behind us and we are back to our usual showings :) This week we will be showing Beyond the Clouds followed by the first few episodes of the new dubbed Naruto! The week after will be our EGM for some new blood on the cmt. And finally we will be placing our orders for our anime/manga this week - expect to have a large new selection come January :) _EGM_ One other upcoming event though is a way overdue EGM. Last year two positions were left vacant - PRO and Film Officer. These are rather.. important.. positions in the society as they are the real face of it :) The PRO designs and puts up the posters while the Film Officer plans out the showings. Directly from our constition, which can be found here (http://www.redbrick.dcu.ie/~ams/about/constitution.php) 6.4.1 The Film Officer shall be responsible for the fixed and current assets of the society in compliance with the regulations set down by the Societies and Publications Committee. 6.4.2 The Film Officer shall maintain a record of all films and related material belonging to the society and will report an inventory list to the committee at the start and end of the academic year. 6.4.3 The Film Officer will be responsible for booking rooms and setting up and monitoring what equipment might be used at events. The Film Officer will be responsible for choosing the weekly movies and handling what license fees need to be paid for the films to be watched. 6.5.1 The Public Relations Officer (along with the Secretary) shall be responsible for the advertising of all functions of the society through all means possible. 6.5.2 The Public Relations Officer (along with the Secretary) shall deal with external correspondence and maintain records of the contribution outside bodies have had for the society and to give notice to all members of these contributions. One other position is also available - First Year Liason. This person's sole role is to help the committee and get as many firsties to attend as possible :) So if anyone is interested in becoming part of the committee email us your submission at ams(a)redbrick.dcu.ie by the end of the week. If you have any questions about what the REAL work is like just come along on thursday and ask or email me and I'll describe the fun :) _EirtaKon 2006_ Well after the very frantic efforts put in by all, thank you!, EirtaKon was a success.. and now already there are calls for a repeat - though hopefully better planed performance ;) - next year. So to get the ball rolling on this I wish to have a Pre Con Director elected. This person should have the aim of becoming the chairperson next year as it will make everything run alot smooter. The person will have to decied the positions that the EirtaKon committee will need - for instance a Staff Manager, a Finance Offier, Trade Officer, Film Officer, PRO, Treasurer, Fan Dub Officer, Cosplay Officer.. etc etc.. They will then _choose_ who will fill these rolls untill the AGM. The pre committee main objective will be advertising, getting the word out, decieding the theme for the con etc.. Contacting groups to gauge their reaction to attending the convention and what not :) Interested? Again email us at ams(a)redbrick.dcu.ie though you can run on the day if you want. The election of the PCD will be directly after the EGM for the committee elections. _Film Plots_ Beyond the Clouds : In an alternate timeline, Japan was divided after losing World War II: Hokkaido was annexed by "Union" while Honshu and other southern islands were under US sovereignty. A gigantic yet mysterious tower was constructed at Hokkaido and could be seen clearly from Aomori (the northernmost prefecture of Honshu) across Tsugaru Strait. In the summer of 1996, three 9th-graders had made a promise that one day they'll build an aircraft and unravel the tower's mystery, but their project was abandoned after the girl, Sayuri Sawatari, began experiencing sleeping sickness and transferred to Tokyo for better treatment. Three years later, Hiroki Fujisawa accidentally found out that Sayuri had been in coma since then, and he asked Takuya Shirakawa to help him finding a way to revive her. What they don't know yet is that Sayuri's unconsciousness is somehow linked with secrets of the tower and the world. Naruto : Naruto closely follows the life of a boy who is feared and detested by the villagers of the hidden leaf village of Konoha. The distrust of the boy has little to do with the boy himself, but it.s what.s inside him that causes anxiety. Long before Naruto came to be, a Kyuubi (demon fox) with great fury and power waged war taking many lives. The battle ensued for a long time until a man known as the Fourth Hokage, Yondaime, the strongest ninja in Konoha, fiercely fought the Kyuubi. The fight was soon won by Yondaime as he sealed the evil demon in a human body. Thus the boy, Naruto, was born. As Naruto grows he decides to become the strongest ninja in Konoha in an effort to show everyone that he is not as they perceive him to be, but is a human being worthy of love and admiration. But the road to becoming Hokage, the title for the strongest ninja in Konoha, is a long and arduous one. It is a path filled with betrayal, pain, and loss; but with hard work, Naruto may achieve Hokage. Thursday Night

Hey guys! Well EirtaKon was.. interesting ;) With a guess estimate of around the 200 people mark this is certainly a success for us! There will be an EGM shortly to elect the con director for next years EirtaKon who will then organise a cmt for next years convention and begining advertising and planing straight away - but thats for later. This thursday will see Excel Saga on the projector for the first half of the meeting and then only those who helped out at EirtaKon will be allowed in during the second half as we do a simple celebration for the con - pizza, more anime etc :) Hope to see you all thursday! This evening : Transformers and Casshern [Live Action]

Right so! Hope everyone had fun last week with the pizza, it certainly went fast enough! So this evening, as per usual in the Seminar Room, we will be showing Transformers : The Movie followed by the 2004 Live Action Movie Casshern - those from last week may recall we watched a bit of the origional 1993 movie, this is much better :) *EIRTAKON* We will also be getting ready for EirtaKon! Ireland's first anime convention. This will be going THIS WEEKEND in the Hub and T101. If interested in giving us a hand (we REALLY need it :) come along tonight and we will be discussing it after the first movie. The library will again be open for people to take out books and dvds if you want. Plots : Transformers : The Movie It is the year 2005. The war between The Autobots and Decepticons has escalated all the way to Cybertron, which the Decepticons have reclaimed. The Autobots, without Optimus Prime after a conflict on Earth takes his life, must now face a destiny they know nothing of. Megatron and a group of forsaken Decepticons have been reformed by the ultimate transformer, a planet consuming demon known as Unicron into even deadlier warriors. Now Galvatron, Scourge and Cyclonus must destroy The Autobot Matrix of Leadership for Unicron's glory or suffer the horrific destruction of Cybertron. However, Optimus Prime has decreed that an Autobot will rise from his rank and use the power of The Matrix to light the darkest hour of the Autobots. With Hot Rod facing responsibility for Prime's death, he feels he may be able to use the power of the Matrix to turn the tide of the Cybertronian Wars and stop Unicron. Until all are one, the future of the Autobots and Decepticons is uncertain. Casshern (Live Action Movie) Fifty years of war between the Great Eastern Federation and Europa have taken their toll on planet Earth. As a result of the use of biological, chemical and nuclear weapons, much of Earth has become uninhabitable and people have become prey to new diseases. Professor Azuma's "neo-cell" project, which is supposed to be the answer to mankinds hardships, becomes a nightmare come true when mutants spawned from the experiment escape and declare war on the human race. Azuma's son Tetsuya, who was killed during the previous war, is reborn into the cyborg Casshern as mankind's last hope against the new mutant threat. Blood+ and Bleach!

Right thursday has again come around, damn time is going too fast >_<, and we have another showing night tonight! So with it being just after October the first showing will be the first two episodes of a brand new series - Blood+ This is a stunning sequel to the movie Bood: The Last Vampire. After a short break we will be showing two episodes of the samurai death gods - Bleach.
