Hello all members of AMS, cade here, some of you might remember me from previous Eirtakons.
I’m joint Staff Manager this year along with rooose.
Every year Eirtakon gets bigger and better and we couldn’t do it without our volunteers!
If you have never been a volunteer at a convention before, don’t worry. Many of our volunteer members will have volunteered before, so you’ll be able to get lots of help and advice.
Just because you are working at Eirtakon doesn’t mean you will miss the workshop or event you have your heart set on. If you let us know in advance, we will arrange for you to have time off to go see your favourite event.
If you would like to help us at Eirtakon 2011 on the 11th - 13th of November by being a volunteer member then please sign up on the Eirtakon forums by posting in this thread
http://eirtakon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1052
and then private message myself (cade) and rooose the following information:
* Real name (This name will be going on your name tag, so if you have a preferred abbreviation, please tell us, e.g. Bob for Robert, whatever)
* Email address (One you check regularly, we want to make sure you get any vital information from us!)
* Age (Just to make sure you meet our age requirements!)
Being a member of the Eirtakon forums means you can vote on upcoming AMS showings and keep up to date on AMS events as well as conversing with many other AMS members and Eirtakon attendees.
If however you would like to Volunteer at Eirtakon but do not wish to join the Eirtakon Forums then you can simply email myself (cade) at staffmanager(a)eirtakon.com with the same information listed above.
We have just a few things we need from our staff.
1) Staff need to be present for the entire weekend. If you can’t be there on Friday night, that’s fine but we need you all day Saturday and all day Sunday.
2) Staff need to be present in the Helix for 8:30am each morning. We’ll provide you with breakfast, so it’s worth getting there early. We need staff there early because the attendees get there early!
3) You need to have attended Eirtakon at least once.
4) You need to be at least 16 years old.
5) This seems obvious, but you need to work. Chatting to friends when it is quiet is fine, you’ll almost certainly have downtime at each desk, but when it is busy we need staff to do their jobs. It makes life easier for everyone!
We really hope that lots of you sign up, either for the first time or to return as veteran volunteer members. It really is fun to volunteer at Eirtakon, we always have a blast and it's a great way to see another side of the con. You'll also get the exclusive Official volunteer TShirt!
If you have any questions, post them in the thread and either myself or rooose will answer them. Or feel free to pm one of us on the Forums and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. You can also email me or contact us in the Eirtakon IRC.
#Eirtakon on irc.synirc.com (If you type rooose or cade it will highlight us and we will notice someone is looking for one of us. Sometimes rooose is in there as reallyrose instead! It's probably best to look for us in the evenings.)
Regards
Eirtakon Staff Manager
