Hello all, Philip here, some of you may not know me as I've been absent from AMS this year. Anyways, I'm the Staff Manager for Eirtakon. This will be my third year in the role having been offered the position after Volunteer Staffing the preceeding two Eirtakons.

Last year ran amazingly smoothly, we had the right number of Volunteer Staff for all the tasks required to run Eirtakon. Every year though Eirtakon gets bigger and better, so to ensure things run just as smoothly as last year I shall be recruiting a few more staff than last year. Many of last years staff have already agreed to return for Eirtakon 2010 so only a few places remain. So if you'd like to Volunteer to staff Eirtakon 2010 don't delay do it today!

Being staff does not mean you miss out on any of the excitement of Eirtakon. If there's an event at Eirtakon that you really don't want to miss then tell me and I will do my very best to Ensure you have free time then so you can attend.

There are a few requirements to being staff however!

1) Staff need to be present for the entire duration of the weekend - Saturday and Sunday
(it's understandable that if you're not 18 you can't attend the Friday pub quiz, if you could however aid in the numerous other tasks needed to be done on Friday before the pub quiz starts it'd be appreciated)

2)Staff need to be present in the Convention Centre by 8:30am on Saturday and Sunday morning.
(Breakfast will be provided at 8:30. We need staff in early as Attendees arrive early)

3)Staff need to be Sixteen years of Age or Over

4)Staff need to have previously attended Eirtakon (Waivered for DCU student AMS members)
(This allows people to understand the scale of the commitment they're undertaking when volunteering)

5)Staff need to work at Eirtakon
(Talking to friends for a few mins when it's quiet is fine. Talking for ages when it's busy is not)

6)Staff need to take the initiative in work
(Don't wait for me to tell you to do something, Each task is made up of alot of little jobs, look in the manual and make sure you've done them all)

7)Don't try and do everything yourself
(I'll be assigning 3 people to the same task each time so share the workload over the three of you, we don't want anyone to have a meltdown from overworking )

If you can meet all those requirements and would like to help us at Eirtakon 2010 on the 15th-17th of October by being a Volunteer staff member then please send me an email with your real name, age and E-mail address to

staffmanager@eirtakon.com

I look foward to hearing from you
