Hello members,
Make sure you're sitting securely in your seats.
I'm extremely proud to announce that after a long haul and lots of stress,
we finally have CSD approved Lab Gaming!
This means that we have a lab in Henry Grattan, C204, that we can game in
on a weekly basis.
The machines are 3GHz Pentium 4s, 1gig of RAM, and Intel Extreme graphics
on 17inch LCD screens. Perfect for now.
We have our own dedicated GamesSoc image we can play on, so when you sit
down to play, everything instantly works. No setting up steam, no copying
files. It's all go.
So without further ado, tomorrow night we will be holding our first semi-official
event.
All members of GamesSoc are being invited to attend, on a first-come first-get-a-pc
basis. Pop along to C204 tomorrow evening at 6pm where we will be playing
CS until 9pm. We would encourage as many as possible to show up so we can
see what the demand is like for future events, and also to get feedback from
you guys as to what you'd like to see at the upcoming events.
You guys might want to bring along your own mice and pads, currently the
lab only has ball mice. Headphones would also be extremely helpful. Oh, and
no food/drink - this is a CSD lab which we must repsect.
Thursday 1st December, 6pm, C204. See you there :)

ps. Newbies: C204 is located on the second floor of Henry Grattan. We'll
stick some GamesSoc posters on the door.
Hi everyone,
Just letting you all know, we're running a console freeplay session tomorrow in the seminar room in the hub, from 2-5pm.

Hey everyone,
Big thanks to everyone who came to the BYOPC LAN this weekend, all
went smoothly and the fragging was mighty. Next semester's LAN will
be bigger and better, don't miss it!
Unfortunately due to room and projector booking mishaps, we've had to
postpone the Halo 2 tournament a second time. It's now happening
Wednesday 16th, 2-5pm, Seminar room.
For the same room and projector booking reasons, we won't be having a
console afternoon this week either. :(
Apologies for screwing up the bookings for stuff, we promise things
will return to normal soon. ;)

Hi everyone,
Just a quick reminder about the BYOPC LAN party this weekend!
It starts tomorrow at midday in the venue, goes on all night until midday-ish on Sunday.
If you haven't signed up yet but are interested in attending, just reply to this mail and let us know who you are. :) If anybody is interested in bringing friends with PCs on the day, please do!
For those of you who are attending, you're going to need to bring this stuff:
Your PC/laptop :)
A powerstrip, to plug all your stuff into.
Headphones! Speakers aren't allowed at individual PCs.
Keyboard, mouse, etc
If you can, bring a long network cable. It'll help get you up and running a bit faster.
If you don't want to bring your own monitor, just email us to let us know and we'll arrange to have a monitor there for you, free of charge.
We're having tournaments in Counter-Strike, Quake 3, and one other game, yet to be decided.
If anybody has any questions, just reply to this and we'll sort you out.

Hi everyone,
Apologies about the rediculously late notice.
The Halo 2 tournament scheduled for today at 2 has had to be postponed until next Tuesday, 8th November, between 3pm and 6pm in the seminar room.
On a more positive note, the BYOPC LAN party is going ahead this weekend, starting Saturday at midday, in the venue in the hub. If you haven't signed up yet, we'll have a table in the Street (Henry Grattan) today from 1-2, and tomorrow from 11-2.
It's just five euro, and there are prizes for the tournaments in Counter-Strike, Quake 3 and one other game, yet to be decided.
Thanks.
