[Announce-gamesoc] Warhammer 40k League Starting

Hi folks, As some of you may know, our members have been running a series of Warhammer 40k Leagues recently. The next league is about to begin in the next few days. A few notes on the the structure of the League itself: It is a team based League, with all players divided into the factions of Order and Disorder. Every week, the leader of both teams will declare players to attack or defend. Attacking players will be paired off with defending players on the opposite team to play their game. Players will be able to play their weekly game at GamesSoc meetings on Monday evenings and Wednesday evenings, or an alternative venue both players find suitable. The standard format for play is 500 Points Combat Patrol. In this way, players will be able to carry their armies to GamesSoc meetings or their chosen venue with little hassle. Players may agree to play their match in a different format if desired. If a player is unable to play his weekly game, he may request a team member to take his place. I would encourage anyone interested to sign up as soon as possible, as the tournament will be getting under way during the next week. The tournament is being run from the GamesSoc forums. If you are interested in taking part, please visit the Wargaming board and post your interest and choice of army in the Team based league thread. [Announce-gamesoc] Console Gaming at 3pm tomorrow | Clubs and Socs Ball tickets

Hi folks, Just a quick update to let you know that Console Gaming starts at 3pm tomorrow in the Seminar Room rather than 2pm as mentioned before. Make good use of that extra hour. Also! We have a small number of Clubs and Socs Ball tickets remaining - €55 each, but well worth the price if previous years are anything to go by. [Announce-gamesoc] GamesSoc This Week!

Hey everyone, Just another email remind you about what's happening in GamesSoc this week. Console Gaming. Traditional Gaming. Lab Gaming. Mezz Night. Console Gaming- Console Gaming continues this week in the Seminar Room upstairs in the hub from 2pm on Wednesday afternoon. We'll have all your favourite console games out and there will be free refreshments for all, so do come along and have a go at Halo 3, Rock Band, Soul Calibur IV or whatever takes your fancy. And thanks to everyone who participated in our first tournament last week, which was a great success! The winner was David "tikka" Jacob, who took home De Blob for the Wii, second was Shane Khublall and third place went to David Ó Laigheanáin. There will be more tournaments in the next few weeks so everyone keep an eye out for posters and we'll let you know in our weekly mail so you won't miss out. Traditional Gaming- Continues on Wednesday night from 6pm in the seminar room in the hub. We've got loads of Board Games, War Games, Card Games and play lots of RPG's so there's sure to be something to suit you. Also we hope everyone had fun at GaelCon at the weekend! There will be lots more trips throughout the year and we'll be sure to keep you posted. Lab Gaming- Lab Gaming continues this Thursday in C204 in Henry Grattan in our dedicated Gaming Lab. We've been having great attendance over the past few weeks and we aim to keep the ball rolling this week. We have Counter-Strike 1.6, GTA2, TrackMania, Day of Defeat, Total Annihilation and lots of other games to keep you occupied for the night so everyone is more than welcome to come along. Mezz Night- This Thursday night GamesSoc will be holding our first Mezz Night in conjunction with FilmSoc upstairs in the canteen. Its to celebrate Halloween so prepare for a few good horror flicks and some gruesome gaming. We'll be kicking off at 6pm so do come along and have some fun. There will be plenty of food and laughs so why not come along.Hope to see you all there. Assassins- Also at Console Gaming we'll be taking sign ups for Assassins which is a joint venture GamesSoc are running with AirSoft Society. The object of the game is to track down the other players and assassinate then with a variety of harmless toys or fake weapons such as Nerf guns. Hey everyone, Console Gaming. Lab Gaming. Traditional Gaming. Gaelcon. Clubs&Socs Ball Tickets. Console Gaming. This week at console we are having our first tournament, Super Smash Bros Brawl! So make sure you get to the Seminar Room, upstairs in the hub on Wednesday afternoon from 2pm to be in with a chance to win some great prizes. Entry fee to the event will be 2 euro. And for those of you who aren't interested in Smash Bros, we'll some other consoles running so you can still play the games you want to. Free refreshments will be provided for everyone who comes. Hope to see you all there! Lab Gaming. Lab Gaming continues this week in C204 on Thursday night, in Henry Grattan from 6pm. Playing all your favourite games such as CS1.6, Day of Defeat Sracraft and loads more so do come long and enjoy a stress free evening! Traditional Gaming. Also we'll be giving them out at Lab Gaming on Thursday if we have any left over. Also if there is anone interested in getting GamesSoc hoody, we still have some in stock so come to us on Wednesday and you can get one off us then if we have it in your size. Hi folks, Gaelcon, Ireland's largest independent games convention is being held once again in Clontarf Castle on the weekend of October 25th to the 27th. Along with the annual Pub Quiz and Charity Auction, this year should see the usual large mix of all types of table top games, board games, wargames, collectible card games, role playing games, seminars and LARPS, with prizes to be won in each category. If previous years are anything to judge by, it should be a great convention. This year GamesSoc will be funding weekend entry passes for twenty members. [Announce-gamesoc] GamesSoc This Week!

Hey everyone, Before mentioning this weeks games I just wanna give a big welcome to all our new members. And a big thanks to everyone who rejoined this year. We've registered over 200 people making this the biggest year in GamesSoc's history, so a big thank you to everyone and hopefully its the start of a great year. :D So just to let everyone know whats happening in GamesSoc this week. 1.Console Gaming. 2.Lab Gaming. 3.Traditional Gaming. 1.Console Gaming. This week we are holding Console Gaming just inside the doors of the Venue, (beside the nuBar) downstairs in the Hub from 2pm. We'll have something for everyone there including our PS3 with Soul Calibur IV, and of course the infamous ROCK BAND! \m/. We'll also have our Xbox 360s out with games like Halo 3 which we'll have a tournament coming up in soon so come along and get practicing. Also we'll have our Wii, on which we'll be playing Super Smash Bros., and Mario Kart Wii. So there is definitely something for everyone and no matter what your gaming experience or interests you'll find something you'll enjoy. Free refreshments will be provided for all our members as they are every week so hope to see you all there. 2.Lab Gaming. Lab Gaming will continue this week on Thursday Evening in C204 in Henry Grattan. We had a great turn out last week with some great laughs and free pizza! We have loads of games to suit your interests if you prefer your PC games, which include TrackMania Nations, Age Of Empires II, StarCraft, Counter Strike 1.6, Worms and in the next few weeks we'll also be adding CounterStrike:Source, CoD4 and BF2. So if you've drank your weeks money by Tuesday, you can recover and save some by coming on Thursday nights. 3.Traditional Gaming. This continues tonight in CG20 in Henry Grattan from 6pm and Wednesday night in the Seminar Room upstairs in the Hub. We play loads of great games here including Diplomacy, Ticket To Ride, Railroad Tycoon, Citadels and many more. So there will be something for everyone, so make sure to come along and have some fun. Free refreshments will be provided for everyone, because we're nice like that. :D Everyone also make sure to hit up the forums at http://games.dcu.ie/forums and discuss your favourite games. You can also make any suggestions here as to what games you would like to see at our different gaming sessions during the week. We will try our best to accommodate everyone. If anyone has any queries or questions don't hesitate to ask us in person or mail us at games(a)redbrick.dcu.ie We are aslo taking orders for our amazing embroidered GamesSoc hoodies and zippys so if anyone would like to order one please say it on the forums or mail us. we currently have some on hand if anyone is interested so if you would like one now come and see any of us on Wednesday and we'll see what we can do.
