Hi guys,
Here's what's happening this week:
- Video Game Violence Debate with Debate Soc
- Games Soc AGM
- Smash Bros 2on2 tournament
- Mezz Night 2, with a Call of Duty 4 tournament
- Video Game Violence Debate -
This Tuesday at 7.30pm in QG13 we'll be doing our first ever event with the DCU
Debate Society. The motion is "That this house would ban violent video games".
It should be pretty interesting, plus there will be free wine too!
- AGM -
The Games Soc AGM takes place at 3pm this Wednesday in the Seminar room. This is
where the members get to decide who runs Games Soc next year, as every position
on the committee is up for grabs. The full list of committee positions is as
follows:
Chairperson
Secretary
Treasurer
Public Relations Officer (PRO)
PC Events Officer
Console Events Officer
Traditional Gaming Officer
Trips Officer
Webmaster
Even if you're not interested in running for a position, please come along to
the AGM and have your say in deciding the future of Games Soc.
- Smash Bros 2on2 tournament -
After we finish the AGM, we'll be running a Smash Bros 2on2 tournament in the
Seminar Room. Smash Bros has always been one of the most popular games at
console gaming and this tournament has been requested by quite a few members,
so it promises to be a great event. We'll have prizes for the winners and
there'll be some other games consoles running too for those of you not
interested in taking part in the tournament.
- Mezz Night 2 + COD4 tournament -
After the success of the last night we had in the Mezz, we've decided to run
another one this week! This time entry will be completely FREE for all members.
We'll be in the Mezz from 6pm this Thursday until late, with full access to all
the Xbox 360s and Steam games like CS and TF2 on the Macs, plus loads of our
own consoles too.
As we've received a huge load of requests from members for a Call of Duty 4
tournament, we've decided that we'll be running one as part of the event this
Thursday, as the Mezz has the perfect setup for an Xbox tournament. As Games
Soc doesn't have COD4 on Xbox and neither does the Mezz, we'll need you guys
to bring in copies of the game in order to run the tournament. So spread the
word and help us run the tournament this Thursday! Entry for the tournament
will be 2 euro per person, but anyone who brings in a copy of the game gets to
take part for free :)
So, we have quite a lot of events happening, hope to see you guys during the
week!

merger, as well as vote to approve our new constitution, which will
provide for 2 new committee positions and the removal of the ordinary

We urge you all to come down and have your say, this is a very important
