Hey all,
Games Soc is holding a 24 hour Christmas BYOPC in 3 weeks time! That's
Saturday the 18th of December to Sunday the 19th. It starts at 12pm and
runs for 24 hours until 12pm the next day. To sign up go to the link below
and register.
http://www.byopc.dcu.ie/
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, a BYOPC (Bring your own
PC) is a LAN event we run once a semester. It's one of the best events we
run with loads of tournaments and great prizes for the winners of each!
The entry fee is €10 and it's well worth it.
Just like the previous LANs, it's taking place in the Helix. This time,
however, it will be taking place in the Blue Room on the second floor.
It's a much bigger room so there's plenty of space for all of you. The
entrance is via the stage door in the Helix. Committee members will be
there to help you bring your PC up to the Blue Room. In case you don't
know where the stage door is, here's a map showing the entrance.

We'll be holding 3 tournaments and we're leaving the decision all up to
you guys again. Post here in this topic on the forums to say what games
you'd be interested in playing and next week we'll put up polls to make a
decision.
http://games.dcu.ie/forums/index.php?topic=2860.0
Keep an eye on the weekly announce email, we'll mention what tournaments
are going to be held once the decision is made. There's going to be some
great prizes for the tournaments, so better get practicing!
Here's a list of things to bring:
- Your PC
- cat5 cable
- Power extension cable
- €10 Entry fee
- Food!
If you don't have a PC or one not powerful enough to run something like
Left 4 Dead 2, fret not, we're going to be setting up all of our consoles
at the LAN too. So you have no reason not to come to the LAN, there will
be plenty of games to keep you occupied!
Also, since this is a Christmas themed BYOPC, Santa hats, lights, mini
Christmas trees and all that sort of stuff is approved!
If you are still reading this email, what are you doing? Go register now
at http://www.byopc.dcu.ie/. Hope to see you all there!
