Hey all, before I get into the rest of the announce, I have some bad
news. Paul Bunbury, the member of gamessoc who went missing just over
six weeks ago, was found dead last Tuesday. He was a lovely man and
although not a regular fixture at our events was widely liked by
everyone he met in gamessoc. The funeral arrangements are available from
http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=usfSwZwv and DCU will be providing travel
to the funeral if anyone wishes to attend. Our thoughts are with his
family and friends at this sad time. May he rest in peace.
This weeks events are scheduled as follows:
- Console Gaming | Wednesday 2-6pm | X101, Science Building
- Traditional Gaming | Wednesday 6-10pm | C166, Henry Grattan
Building
- Lab Gaming | Thursday 6-10pm | C204, Henry Grattan Building
- Age of Empires Tournament | Thursday 6-10pm | C204, Henry Grattan
Building
As today is a Bank Holiday there will be no Monday night Trad gaming
this week.
Age Of Empires Tournament
Because last weeks dose of war and strategems wasn't enough, this
Thursday we're getting retro and firing up an old gem with an Age of
Empires 2 tournament. Entry will be €2, with prizes for the winners.
Signups will be taken from 6 and the tournament will start at 7.
Birthday Lan
Gamessoc is turning 10! And we'll be celebrating with a LAN! What's so
different about this one? Well first off, it'll run for 30 hours.
Second, we'll be having retro tournaments, playing the games that
gamessoc members played 10 years ago. Isn't that neat? The date is
tentatively set for the 7/8th of April so keep watching this space for
more info.
Minecraft Server
The current gamessoc minecraft server will be moved to another port
around the time of the birthday LAN in order to start a new server with
the latest version of the game, so soon we will be able to rebuild,
huddle, and hide from the Endermen together.
Catch y'all later.

Hey all,
Just wanted to run through the info for the Xtreme Gamer LAN which is
being run in association with IT Tallaght GamesSoc.
There are limited spaces remaining and we need you to signup on our
website if you're going as signups will be unavailable after 6pm today.
The signup link is at http://games.dcu.ie/#event16. The entry fee will
cover entry to the LAN, the tournaments, and the Raffle.
Xtreme Gamer is located at 31 Liffey Street Lower in Dublin City
Centre. If you don't know where that is there or don't want to go alone
will be a group meeting at the Spire at about 7:45 and will walk down
together. It's only a brief walk from there.
Wondering what to bring? The list includes:
- €10 Entry Fee
- Food (or money for food)
- Games you want to play
Just to clarify by “games you want to play” we mean that if there’s a
game you have that you really want to play at the LAN you should bring a
copy just in case all the copies of that game are being used.
We'll be running several tournaments throughout the night for which we
will have prizes for first and second place, including:
- Street Fighter x Tekken
- 1v1
- No Gem System
- Modern Warfare 3
- Singles
- Base Classes
- No Kill Streaks
- Tetris
- 5 minutes
- Highest Score wins
IT Tallaght will also be hosting a music quiz to test your game
soundtrack knowledge.
That's everything for the console LAN if you have any questions about
the LAN please post one on the announce topic here:

Hey all,
Our consoles LAN will now be in association with IT Tallaght GamesSoc,
we hope this will foster good inter-varsity relations between the two
societies.
Also just want to remind you that our EGM to elect an Extraordinary
Member is tomorrow at 3pm in X101, this will briefly interrupt Console
Gaming but we will compensate you with delicious pizza afterwards.

City.
- EGM | Wednesday 3pm | X101, Science Building
- Dawn of War Tournament | Thursday 6-10pm | C204, Henry Grattan

EGM
So as we mentioned last week our EGM to elect a new Extraordinary
Member will take place this Wednesday 7th March at 3pm in X101. This
will briefly interrupt Console Gaming, but it's important so I know
you'll understand. Come along to run or vote, we'll also compensate you
for lost console gaming time by buying you pizza!
Consoles LAN
Console LAN is next weekend guys! It will cost €10 and will run from
8pm Saturday the 10th to 8am Sunday the 11th. As mentioned last week
there will be awesome tourneys like MW3, and Street Fighter X Tekken.
However as Xtreme Gamer has limited copies of these games, it would
really help the tournaments go smoothly if you could also bring your own
copies of these games. There will also be PC's available for use
throughout the night and if you wish to bring your own consoles or
games, feel free to do so.
We must know numbers beforehand so if you intend to go, signup for this
event on the following page: http://games.dcu.ie/#event16
Dawn of War Tournament
This week will see a Dawn of War tournament at lab gaming! Entry will
be a measly €2 and we'll have prizes! Signups will be from 6pm and the
tournament will start at 7pm So conquer one conquer all.
That's all for this week hope you have a good one!
