is still here to surprise and delight, and distract you suitably from
college work...
Here's what is happening in GamesSoc this week:

- - 24 Hour LAN - -
Our 24 hour BYOPC LAN will be kicking off this Friday from 6pm! We
still have some places left so don't be afraid to sign up. Deposits
are only twenty euro. Not a PC gamer? No problem! We'll have a
selection of console games and traditional games there to play too.
Already signed up? We need your deposit before Friday. Get it to a
committee member as soon as possible to secure your place!

Trad gaming will take place as usual on Monday and Wednesday of this
week in XG01. Mondays session will run from 6pm to 10pm, and Wednesdays
session will run from 5pm to 10pm as usual. Come along to play some
card and board games!
- - PC Gaming - -
PC Gaming will be running this week on both Tuesday and Thursday of
this week from 6pm to 10pm. We'll be up in C204 on both days. If you
like Garry's Mod, it's been very popular for the last few sessions!
- - Console Gaming - -
Console gaming will be set up in AG45 this week from 1pm to 5pm
this Wednesday. Come along to button mash on our consoles, both old
and new! We'll be running a tournament in Towerfall Ascension this
week on the PS4! Signups start at 1pm, and cost two euro. The
tournament will start at 2pm.
- - Christmas Party - -
It's that time of year again! Time to party over in Matt Weldon's for
the annual intersocs Christmas party. We'll be heading to the pub at
7:30 on the 11th of December for some drinks deals, some finger food,
and most importantly - a chance to sit on Santa's lap and receive some
high quality presents!

Hey everyone!
Sorry about how late this email is going out... I dropped the ball
this week, but I'll be sure that it won't happen again!
Here's what is happening in GamesSoc this week:

- - 24 Hour LAN - -
As we mentioned at our EGM and in our last announce, we will be
holding a 24 hour BYOPC LAN before the end of the semester! We have
booked the Venue from 6pm on the 5th of December to 6pm on the 6th of
December! We have booked in for fifty people to be able to attend, so
if you are interested please fill in our signups form. We are charging
a twenty euro deposit per person, if the costs work out to be cheaper
then we will be able to refund some of this to you and vice versa.
We'll also have some of our traditional games and console games there,
so if you're not a PC gamer there will still be loads for you to do!
We'll also be running tournaments over the 24 hours.

Console gaming will be set up in X131 again this week from 1pm to 5pm
this Wednesday. Come along to button mash on our consoles, both old
and new!
- - Game Development Meetup - -
Our weekly game development meeting will be running this Tuesday from
6pm to 8pm. Just a reminder, the plan for the game so far seems to be
heading towards a Magic School themed game. Think Theme Hospital, but
in a Hogwartsesque school. Sounds interesting? Be sure to pop in,
we'll be up in C124!
- - Red Bull Crushed Ice - -
Red Bull and GamesSoc are teaming up this Friday from 11am to 3pm.
We'll be running a competition in their new Xbox game. Red Bull are
hosting an event in Stormont Castle called Crushed Ice, it’s one of
the biggest ice-skating events in the world and it’s on in Ireland for
over 50,000 people. As a prize for this competition, Red Bull are
giving away two tickets to the event. Interested? All you have to do
is try to get the highest score on Friday. Come along and give it a
shot!

HEY GUYS WE MANAGED TO GET PC GAMING RUNNING! We're proud to have PC
gaming back on as one of our regular weekly events, our first session
will be on Tuesday from 6pm to 10pm, and Thursday at the same time
also. We'll be based back up in C204!

Console gaming will be set up in X131 this week from 1pm to 6pm this
Wednesday. As well as our normal set of consoles, we will also be
running a Dick Kick tournament! Sign ups as always start at 1pm, cost
two euro to join, and the tournament will start at 2pm.
- - HvZ Cleanup - -
Thank you to everyone who participated in Humans Vs Zombies last week,
it was great to see the bands and nerf guns out again in force. Just a
quick note, if anybody spots any nerf bullets around campus, we wuld
just ask that you hand them into a member of committee.
- - Game Development Meetup - -
Our weekly game development meeting will be running this Tuesday from
6pm onwards. The plan so far seems to be heading towards a Magic

Pysch Society have invited GamesSoc to join in their event on Tuesday.

As we mentioned in a previous announce, we received granting for
Eirtakon. Eirtakon will be running this weekend from the 21st to the
23rd. For the first ten people to provide their receipt to a member of
committee during week 10, we will be able to refund 60 per cent of the
cost to them. Simples!

Hey all,
Apparently the zombies have escaped from their containment and are
heading into campus tomorrow... Have your nerf guns at the ready, it's
going to be a bumpy ride!
Here's what is happening in GamesSoc this week:

- - Humans Vs Zombies - -
The original zombies will be unleashed tomorrow, if you want to join
in, you're going to have to book yourself in! We will be set up in the
Hub from 9am tomorrow morning with your headbands in order to ensure
you are ready to fight the zombie power! Familiarise yourself with the
rules here http://games.dcu.ie/hvz/rules.php and register to join the
game either online or at the desk.
Key rules (in brief) to note: no play/safe zones, no realistic looking
weapons, always carry your kill PIN, always follow campus security
rulings,
and don't be a dick.

Trad gaming will be on as always on Monday and Wednesday in XG01.
Monday's session will be running from 6pm to 10pm, while Wednesday's
will be running from 5pm to 10pm. Come along, and more importantly,
believe in the heart of the cards!
- - Console Gaming - -
We'll as always set up our consoles in XG16 from 1pm to 5pm on
Wednesday! Come along and push buttons and toggle joysticks and do the
games thing. Woo!
- - Music Soc Joint Event - -
As part of Music Week, this week we are teaming up with Music Soc for
an event! We'll be setting up Singstar in the Hub on Tuesday from 2pm
to 4pm. Come test your lungs and singing skills!
We're also hoping to get PC gaming set up soon, we've had good news
from ISS regarding setting up C204 for this, once we know we'll let
you guys know!

As some of you may know GamesSoc runs a Minecraft server. However,
it's time to reset it and make it all new! The current server will be
going down around 6pm today and should re-open with a new map around
8pm. Wanna get on the whitelist? Either reply to Rob's post in the
GamesSoc Facebook group or reply to this email with your username. For
those of you who already have, keep an eye out for when you can get
onto the server - clyde.games.dcu.ie

There has been mention on campus that there is an infected student
among us... and they're hungry for brains! Equip yourself against the
zombie horde today at 6pm in CG20 where we'll be going through what
you'll need, and how to walk out of week 8 without becoming one of the
infected.

We have passed the halfway mark in the semester, and while it might be
reading week for some, GamesSoc is still running as usual!
Here's what is happening in GamesSoc this week:

Trad gaming will be on as always on Monday and Wednesday in XG01.
Monday we'll be running from 6pm to 10pm, while on Wednesday we'll be
running from 5pm to 10pm. Come along and play all dem cardgames and
boardgames and maybe even a game of Werewolves...
- - Console Gaming - -
Console gaming will be on from 1pm to 6pm in XG16 on Wednesday of this
week. Come along to play on our usual set of consoles, which will be
set up as usual. We'll also be running a Tekken Tag Tournament 2
tournament! Sign-ups start at 1pm, and the tournament will start at
2pm. Two euro to join as always!

Thanks a lot to everyone who came along last week and joined in with
our tournaments, it was a great night all round! As a result of the
tournaments we ran, we have some new trophies to give out as part of
King of GamesSoc, as follows:

We'll be meeting up again this Tuesday in C124 from 6pm to 8pm to talk
about the plans for this project! Feel free to drop in between these
times to add your input.
- - Humans Vs Zombies - -
Humans Vs Zombies will be returning to campus next week! Get your
socks and nerf guns ready to fight the zombie plague. Signups for this
year are currently open, and will be until the game starts. For our
new members, Human Vs Zombies is a campus wide game that begins with
some Original Zombies, who then infect humans. Zombies must feed, or
they will starve, and humans must
try to stay alive. The game is not limited to just GamesSoc members,
so be sure to share with your friends!

- - Eirtakon - -
Eirtakon will be returning to Croke Park this year from the 21st to
the 23rd of November! Eirtakon is run by DCU's Anime and Manga Society
annually. While the event focuses on anime and manga, there are also a
number of gaming events run over the weekend. For anyone who is
interested in attending, we should be able to reimburse some of you
guys for the ticket cost, please email your interest in attending if
you wish for us to do this.
As well as this, Bank of Ireland on campus are running a competition
to win tickets to Eirtakon this year, for anyone who has a student
account with the bank!
