[Announce-gamessoc] AMS - Gamessoc Intersoc Fighting Games! [Wed]

Hey everyone! So I forgot to mention an event that we are running tomorrow in conjunction with AMS! Intersoc Fighting Games! So the idea is to meet up in the Old Bar in the Hub from 6pm-10pm tomorrow. Some of the games that will be featured will be: Street Fighter BlazBlue Mortal Kombat JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle Super Smash Bros For Wii U Dragonball Xenoverse and more! There also be a tournament for one of the games but that will be decided on the day. Anyway apologises for the delay of this email and I hope to see you there! [Announce-gamessoc] Week 9 - Q-Con Signups!

Hope you all had a great Easter and ate plenty of chocolate! Hopefully not too much! So without further delay here is what is happening this week: -- Trad Gaming - Wednesday Only [Wed] -- -- PC Gaming As Normal [Tues,Thurs] -- -- Console Gaming - As Normal [Wed] -- -- Q-Con Convention Sign-ups -- -- With today being a bank holiday there is no surprise that there is no Trad on today but we shall have Trad Gaming on Wednesday so don't you fret! You can find Trad Gaming on this Wednesday in XG01 from 5-10pm. -- -- We had it last week and we will have it again this week, the lab of PCs and several steam accounts are here for all of you to play and dive in! PC Gaming shall be on Tuesdays and Thursdays in C214 from 6pm-10pm. -- -- Thank you to everyone who came down and participated in the Mario Strikers Charged! tournament! We shall be returning to normal this week with our regular content of TV's, games and laughs. You can find Console Gaming with all of it's Tv's, consoles and games on Wednesdays from 2-5pm in XG01. -- -- Remember when I mentioned Q-Con back in week 2? Well we are now taking names for those wishing to go! We can send up to 30 people and until the registration goes up we won't know exactly how much it will cost but expect it to be around 60 for the trip which will include: -Bus transport from DCU to the convention and back -A weekend Con ticket -The weekend's stay in Queens College accommodation (elms village) * If you want to attend Q-Con with us make sure to email us your name and your student number saying you want to attend. * And for those who joined after we initially talked about Q-Con or missed the email here is a quick description about the trip itself: Q-Con is a big anime and gaming convention held in Belfast every year that we as Gamessoc attend for the weekend and have a great time! This is one of the biggest events we hold each year and it's definitely something not to be missed! Between entering game tournaments(Video, Trad and Card), watching anime screening, attending panels and talks from guests, achieving victory at the pub quiz, seeing all the great cosplay and having a laugh with friends in a once off pen and paper RPG there is something for everyone! Then once you have had your fill at the con you retire to the Queens College accommodation (elms village) where we will be staying for the weekend to eat junk food, play games, have some drink and possibly play Ninja into the wee hours of the morning all to do it again the next day! [Announce-gamessoc] Week 7 - Pub Quiz, AGM Results and PC Gaming!

With our newly elected committee let us look towards the following week! So without further delay here is what is happening this week: -- Pub Quiz [Wed] -- -- AGM Results -- -- Trad Gaming - Monday Only [Mon] -- -- Console Gaming - As Normal [Wed] -- -- PC Gaming [Tues,Thurs] -- -- Alright everyone our annual Pub Quiz is back once again this year! Our pub Quiz will be happening this Wednesday in The Mezz (Which is upstairs in The Hub) at 7pm. It's 8 per table with 4 people max per team and if you aren't a Gamessoc member you can still participate if there are at least 2 Gamessoc members on your team! We will also have a raffle with the wonderful prize being a N64 with 2 controllers, Gondeneye and Wipeout 64! Prizes for the actual Pub Quiz are: 1st: 20 vouchers [1 per person] 2nd: 10 vouchers [1 per person] 3rd: Easter eggs! There will also be more chances throughout the quiz to win more Easter Eggs and a copy of the Trad game Skull! If we have any further announcements for the Pub Quiz we shall send out and extra email and post about it on our Facebook event page below! Trad Gaming Officer (x2) = Kieran McEvoy + Tríona Barrow. Congratulations to our new committee and best of luck to them in the next academic year! -- -- Game boards, dice, cards counters and meeples. Sounds like Trad Gaming to me! Trad gaming [board games, card games and anything in between that is non-electronic] shall be happening on Monday only this week as our Pub Quiz takes place during the same time. You can find Trad Gaming this Monday in XG01 from 6-10pm. -- Thanks to all that attended last weeks Dive Kick tournament! This week are returning to our normal affairs of Tv's Consoles and bags and bags of games! You can find Console Gaming with all of it's Tv's, consoles and games on Wednesdays from 2-5pm in XG01. -- -- Better late than never I can finally announce that PC Gaming will be starting form this week forward! We shall be heading up to C214 in the Henry Grattan and taking over the computers to play PC Games together! Don't worry if you don't have any PC Games as we have several Gamessoc Steam accounts that you can use to and play games with everyone else! [Announce-gamessoc] Week 6 - AGM, DiveKick, Bowling and Unicon!

Some things to look forward to this week, Diving, electing and Kicking. It's going to be a good one. So without further delay here is what is happening this week: -- AGM [Wed] -- -- Trad Gaming - Normal on Mon, After AGM on Wed [Mon,Wed] -- -- Console Gaming - DiveKick Tournament [Wed] -- -- BYOB Bowling [Thurs] -- -- Unicon [Sat] -- -- One last reminder that our AGM is this Wednesday! Starting from 6pm we will briefly talk about the society and then get into electing our committee for the next year! The following positions are available to run for: -Chairperson -Secretary -Treasurer -Public Relations Officer -Trips & Events Officer -Webmaster -Console Gaming Officer -PC Gaming Officer (x2) -Trad Gaming Officer (x2) Again to remind you all that you can run for any positions and more than one position if you want to too! Don't worry if you don't feel like you know enough and so on for a position, you can learn how to do them from the current position holder and the rest of the committee if you get it. So if you want to run for a position and have the interest to learn go for it! If you want further information about the AGM, the positions themselves feel free to ask us in person or via email! With the following exception however, Trad Gaming on Wednesday shall start once the AGM is over (more details can be found below.) You can find Trad Gaming this Monday in XG01 from 6-10pm and on Wednesday in XG01 after the AGM. -- -- Hope you all have had your rest because we are rolling out another tournament this week and this time it's Dive Kick! Dive Kick is a very easy to grasp 2D fighting game with only 2 buttons, that's right 2 buttons. One button is the Dive button (Jump) and the other is the Kick button (return to the ground attacking with a kick). There is more to it than that but that's the jist of it anyway. Easy to play and get into so why not give it a shot? As per usual it's 2 to sign up with sign-ups starting at 2pm and the tournament aiming to start at 3pm. You can find Console Gaming with all of it's Tv's, consoles and games on Wednesdays from 2-5pm in XG01. -- -- So it is about time we had a Gamessoc night out we think that's why we are going BYOB Bowling this Thursday! So for the price of 12 you get bowling, pool and snooker and since it's BYOB (Bring Your Own Drink) you can as you guessed you can bring your own drink and drink away up until the night ends at 12pm! So here is the plan: Meet up in NuBar at 7pm for a couple of drinks before hand and then on towards Leisureplex in Coolock for 9pm.
