Week 11: Games, parties, and where to find them!
Hey guys,
We're nearing the end of the semester, and we've got a fun filled fortnight
ahead of us. Here's what's happening.
The Usuals
*Trad Gaming:* Trad will be taking place as usual on Monday, 6-10pm in
XG01. It'll be as fun as always, come along!
*Console Gaming:* Console Gaming will be held from 2-5pm in XG01, with all
of our favourite consoles and games.
*Discord Meet-Ups:* We'll be meeting up on Discord from 8pm on Friday and
Saturday to play some games and hang out.
Upcoming Events
*Redbrick Christmas Party* We'll be joining Redbrick in throwing their
Christmas party in the Slipper this Wednesday, 7pm. There'll be games,
drinking and some presents, guaranteed to be a lot of fun!
*Airsoft Trip* DCU Airsoft Soc will be heading off to Inferno QBC this
Wednesday, leaving the Helix at 2:30pm. It costs €20, and you can sign up
from 12pm until 2pm Monday and Tuesday. Beginners welcome, it'll be a blast!
*LAN* The 24 hour LAN will be taking place on St Pats Campus from 6pm on
Friday, December 8th. It'll be a mad night with lots of tournaments, spot
prizes, a raffle, and refreshments to keep you going! Places are limited,

Competitions
*Logo Competition:* As this is the last year of Blinky, we'll be looking
for a new logo. The winner will receive a €50 Amazon voucher, so if graphic
design is your passion, click here for all of the specific requirements.
The deadline will be the start of semester 2, we'll give the exact date
soon.
*Ticket Giveaway:* As some of you may be aware, Legend of Zelda: Symphony
of the Goddesses is coming to the Bord Gáis on the 11th of December, and we
have a ticket to give away for it! Keep an eye on our Facebook page to
enter. Speaking from experience, it's an amazing show and there are still
tickets on sale!
Hoodies
This is your last chance to get yourself a DCU GamesSoc hoodie featuring
Blinky! The hoodies will cost €25 and we'll be collecting money before the

Week 10: Board games, sword games and more!
Hey guys,
Welcome to a new week of college. We've another eventful week ahead, so I
wont dilly dally.
Trad Gaming
Come along for some Trad Gaming this Monday, 6-10pm, and Wednesday, 5-10pm,
in room XG01 for some board game antics. Wednesday we'll be hosting a deck
building night, for the likes of Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon and Magic: The
Gathering, so bring along your cards to create the ultimate, unbeatable
deck (and check out the competition maybe).
Console Gaming
Join us for Console Gaming on Wednesday, 2-5pm in XG01. This week's
tournament is Wii Sports sword fighting, bound to be lots of fun! The entry
fee is €2 euro, with a €20 GameStop voucher for the master swordsman or
swordswoman.
LAN
The LAN of legends returns this year, 9-10th of December! We'll be starting
to take sign ups soon, so once again keep an eye out on Facebook! The 24
hour event will be hosted in St Pats Campus. Numbers are limited, so be
sure to sign up as fast as possible. Bring your PCs/laptops, or just come
along to play some board games and consoles throughout the night, where
we'll be hosting tournaments and the likes.
Discord Meet-Ups
We'll be having meetups on Discord from 8pm on Friday and Saturday. If you
haven't joined the GamesSoc Discord server, all you have to do is click the
link in the footer of the email. We're a friendly bunch, so don't hesitate
to come along and just chat.
eXtras
*Games eXpo Ireland:*GXI is only one week away! It'll be taking place 25th
and 26th of November, and it's going to be a great time. You can buy

*Clockwork Door Tournament:*The Clockwork Door will be hosting another Keep
Talking and Nobody Explodes tournament this Wednesday from 8pm. It's a

Week 9: Smash Up, Dominicon and GXI!
Hey all! We've another busy week ahead, but first I'd just like to let
youse know we'll be holding a new GamesSoc logo competition, so keep an eye
on our Facebook page for more information. Thus, this year will be the last
chance to get a hoodie with our beloved Blinky on it! We'e hoping to take
orders before the end of the semester and we'll be asking for the full
price (approx. €25) up front, so bear that in mind over the next few weeks.

Trad Gaming
Join us for Trad Gaming Monday 6-10pm and Wednesday 5-10pm in XG01. This
Wednesday we'll be holding a Smash Up tournament, with sign ups and an
explanation of the game rules from 5pm, and the tournament begins at 6pm.
There's a €2 entry fee and a €20 Gamers World voucher for the winner, so
you might as well give it a go!
Console Gaming
Console Gaming will take place as usual in XG01, 2-5pm on Wednesday. Come
along, bring your friends, play your favourites and maybe try a new one!
Discord Meet-Ups
We'll be having our weekly meet-up on Discord from 8pm on both Friday and
Saturday! Join the Discord server through the link in the footer, and go
online at the time to play games together or just chat and send memes.
Access Pub Quiz
DCU Access Soc is holding a pub quiz in McGowans in Phibsborough from 6pm
on Saturday. All proceeds will be going to charity, and I'm sure it'll be a
great night!
Dominicon Turbo
Dominicon is Maynooth University Games Soc's annual games convention. It
takes place in the Maynooth SU bar for the full weekend starting on Friday
from 6pm and ending on Sunday. It's €10 for the whole weekend and the theme
this year is "Speed." All proceeds will go to Jigsaw, the youth mental
health charity. Events will include tournaments, our charity auction,
gaming pub quiz, RPGs and there'll be 4 of Ireland's best speed runners
coming to the con to try and beat world records in some games. We have two
free tickets to raffle off, so just click here

Games Expo Ireland
Games Expo Ireland will be taking place in the RDS on the 25th and 26th of
November, hosted by Dublin Comic Con and AsOne Productions. This event
appeals to every type of gaming fan, featuring casual play and tournaments
to voice actors and life-size interactive game sets! We also have two
tickets to raffle off for this, so be sure to stay updated on the Facebook

Week 8: Towerfall tourney and board game banter
Hey guys,
I hope those of you who had Reading Week enjoyed it, welcome back. We've a
standard schedule for this week, and I'll just get straight to it:
Trad Gaming
Trad will be taking place as normal in room XG01, 6-10pm Monday and 5-10pm
Wednesday. We'll be playing all our usual games and be having all the usual
fun, so come along!
Console Gaming
Come to XG01 2-5pm for Console Gaming. This week we'll be having a
Towerfall tournament this week, 2 euro entry and a 20 euro GameStop voucher
up for grabs! It's a fun game, and it's not too difficult so if you haven't
played it you may as well try it.
Discord Meet-Ups
If you haven't already joined the GamesSoc discord server, there's a link
link below. Every Friday from 8pm we do meet-ups where you can just chill
and play a few games and chat!
