Week 10: 48 Hour LAN + Upcoming EGM!
*48 Hour LAN!*
Welcome to Week 10 everyone! We’re getting closer to the end of the
Semester, which means we’re also getting closer to something very
exciting... Gamesoc’s 48 Hour LAN event! LAN is a huge 48 hour sleepover
where we’ll be playing games, competing in tournaments for prizes and
overall having a great time! It’ll be taking place in the U from the 13th
to the 15th of December! We’ll have a stand set up in the ground floor of
the U from 1-4 on Monday and 11-4 on Tuesday to Thursday, so if you’re
looking to buy a ticket or just have any questions about LAN, that’s the
place to be!
*Upcoming EGM!*
Next week we’ll also be holding an EGM, on Monday 2nd December! We’ll be
electing the positions of Chair, Vice-Chair, PRO, Treasurer, Community
Manager and Tabletop Officer, so if you’re interested in any of those
positions, make sure to be there! Everyone who wishes to run for the
position will need to make a speech, however if you can’t make it to the
EGM in person you can call in and make your speech remotely or have someone
else read your speech for you! We look forward to working with whoever is
elected for the positions, and good luck to everyone who runs!
*Console Gaming*
Console Gaming will be in the Pairc Room this Wednesday from 2-6pm! We’ll
have all our usual selection of consoles and games to pick from, so
whatever you’re looking to play we’re sure to have something to look
forward to!
Feel free to switch the games being played on the consoles! As a heads-up,
if you're looking to take a game out of the gamesoc boxes to play, please
ask a committee member to take it out for you!
*Tabletop Gaming*
Tabletop Gaming will be on this Monday and Wednesday in the Cuilin Room
from 5-10pm! If there’s any board game of ours that you’re looking to play
but that we don’t have out, feel free to ask a committee member for it and
we’ll be happy to get it out for you!
*PC Gaming*
PC Gaming will be on this Tuesday from 6-10pm! This week, we’ll also be
holding an Overwatch Tournament from 7pm onwards! Entry will be €2, the max
team size will be 3 and the prize will be a €15 One 4 All voucher for each
winning team member!
Remember to bring your own laptops, headsets, mice etc. as well! While we
have a lot of Pcs we unfortunately can't provide for everyone!
We'll also be hosting a Gamesoc Discord night on Saturday from 8pm onwards!
If you're not a member of the Discord yet, there's a link down at the end
of the email!

Week 9: EGM + Retro Game Night!
*EGM This Wednesday!*
This week’s a special one, as this Wednesday in the Cuilin Room from 6pm
onwards we’ll be holding an EGM! We’ll be electing the positions of PC
Officer and Tabletop Officer, so if you’re interested in either of those
positions make sure to turn up! If you can’t make it to the EGM in person,
you can also send in a speech for someone to read out for you, or you can
call in and do the speech yourself! Good luck to everyone who plans on
running, and we look forward to working with whoever gets elected!
*Retro Games Night!*
This St Pat’s Night will be a special event, as we’ll be holding a Retro
Games Night in the Cat and Cage Pub opposite St Pat’s Campus from 6pm
onwards this Thursday! We’ll be bringing a load of retro game consoles down
with us, like the PS2, the Gamecube and N64, so come and relive your
childhood games with us!
To get to St. Pat’s Campus from Glasnevin Campus on Dublin Bus, you can
take the 11 and 13 between the two campuses! If you’re heading from Town,
you can also get the 1 to St. Pat’s Campus!
*Gamesoc Pokemon League*
The Gamesoc Pokemon League continues running on! Entering gives you a shot
at defeating 8 of Gamesoc’s Gym Leaders and claiming the title of Gamesoc
Pokemon League Champion!
All battles will take place through Pokemon Showdown, which can be found

Week 8: Karting Intersoc + Upcoming EGM!
*Karting Intersoc + Upcoming EGM!*
Hope everyone who had it enjoyed their Reading Week last week! Now that
everyone’s back, we hope you’re ready to hit the ground running (or
driving?) as we’ve got a big event lined up this week! We’ll be teaming up
with Karting Society at this week’s Console Gaming event on Wednesday for a
Racing Game Extravaganza, the full details of which can be found in the
Console Gaming section of the email!
In addition to that, we’ve got an important announcement to make: we’ll be
holding an EGM next Wednesday the 20th of October from 6pm onwards! We’ll
be electing a new Tabletop Officer and a new PC Officer, so if you’re
interested in running for either of those positions make sure to be there!
*Dominicon Ticket Raffle!*
We’re glad to announce that we’ve got two VIP tickets to Dominicon to
raffle away this week! Dominicon is a gaming convention run by Maynooth
University’s Game Society for the past 25 years that’s being held in

This week will put your virtual driving skills to the test, as this week’s
consoles will be an intersoc with Karting Soc! As part of this, we’ll be
hosting a Mario Kart Tournament from 3pm onwards! Entry is free, so
whatever your skill level it’s sure to be a fun time! In addition to the
tournament, we’ll also have a variety of racing games available to play
such as Gran Turismo, Burnout and Need 4 Speed!

Week 7: Reading Week!
*Reading Week!*
This week’s gonna be a quiet one all around, as it’s this semester’s
Reading Week! To everyone who has Reading Week, we hope you enjoy the
break! And to anyone who doesn’t have Reading Week, don’t worry; we’ll be
having our weekly events as usual, so come take a load off and relax!
*Pokemon League!*
The Gamesoc Pokemon League is officially into its second week of running!
