Hey all, before I get into the rest of the announce, I have some bad news. Paul Bunbury, the member of gamessoc who went missing just over six weeks ago, was found dead last Tuesday. He was a lovely man and although not a regular fixture at our events was widely liked by everyone he met in gamessoc. The funeral arrangements are available from http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=usfSwZwv and DCU will be providing travel to the funeral if anyone wishes to attend. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time. May he rest in peace.
This weeks events are scheduled as follows:
- Console Gaming | Wednesday 2-6pm | X101, Science Building - Traditional Gaming | Wednesday 6-10pm | C166, Henry Grattan Building - Lab Gaming | Thursday 6-10pm | C204, Henry Grattan Building - Age of Empires Tournament | Thursday 6-10pm | C204, Henry Grattan Building
As today is a Bank Holiday there will be no Monday night Trad gaming this week.
Age Of Empires Tournament
Because last weeks dose of war and strategems wasn't enough, this Thursday we're getting retro and firing up an old gem with an Age of Empires 2 tournament. Entry will be €2, with prizes for the winners. Signups will be taken from 6 and the tournament will start at 7.
Birthday Lan
Gamessoc is turning 10! And we'll be celebrating with a LAN! What's so different about this one? Well first off, it'll run for 30 hours. Second, we'll be having retro tournaments, playing the games that gamessoc members played 10 years ago. Isn't that neat? The date is tentatively set for the 7/8th of April so keep watching this space for more info.
Minecraft Server
The current gamessoc minecraft server will be moved to another port around the time of the birthday LAN in order to start a new server with the latest version of the game, so soon we will be able to rebuild, huddle, and hide from the Endermen together.
