Hello everybody,
First, I'd like to extend a welcome on behalf of the committee to the new members that have joined us this year. We hope that you all have fun while you're here! Also, here's a link to our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/107549179282938/
Now, down to business.
--Intersocs Party-- --Trad Gaming: Mon 6pm - 10pm XG01, Wed 6pm - 10pm XG14-- --Console Gaming: Wed 2pm - 6pm XG16-- --No PC Gaming-- --King of GamesSoc-- --Humans vs Zombies--
--Intersocs Party-- We're hosting a party in Matt Wheldon's on Tuesday along with Pokemon Society, Anime Manga Society, and Redbrick. It will be from 7pm to late, and there should be some great drinks deals and maybe even some food. Hope to see you all there! If you need more information, the event page is right here: https://www.facebook.com/events/664971956860099
--Trad Gaming-- This week, Traditional and Tabletop gaming will take place from 6pm - 10pm in XG01 on Monday evening, and at the same time in XG14 on Wednesday evening. We'll have loads of fun games like Dominion, Game of Thrones, Werewolves, and more. Make sure you come along to one of the most popular nights of gaming!
--Console Gaming-- Our first tournament of the year happens this week in Console gaming with Black Ops 2 on the Xbox 360. It will take place on Wednesday from 2pm - 6pm in XG16. Entry for the tournament will be €2. Signups will take place from 2pm, and it will start at 3pm. The prize for this tournament is a €20 Gamestop voucher, so come along for your chance to win!
We'll also have our usual PS3s, Wii, and WiiU set up if you're not interested in participating in the tournament!
--No PC Gaming-- We're still going through the process of having the lab set up, so PC gaming is, sadly, not on for another few weeks. Don't worry though, it will be back soon. Like you, Padraig (our PC Events Officer) is very sad that it's not on this week.
--King of GamesSoc-- This year, we have decided to host a new event which will run until the end of the second semester. The event is called King of GamesSoc. For every tournament, whether it be consoles, PC, or trad, we will give out trophies on the GamesSoc website. Trophies will also be given out for other challenges set by the members of the committee.
Why does this concern you? Because the first trophy will be given out today. Later on, there will be a post with the full rules on the GamesSoc Facebook page, and the first person to comment on it will receive the first trophy. Keep in mind, that you will have to register for the GamesSoc website (http://games.dcu.ie) to participate.
At the end of the year, the person who has the most trophies will be crowned King of GamesSoc, so make sure you come along to as many events as possible to have the best chance!
--Humans vs Zombies-- We're holding Humans vs Zombies again this year with Paintball Soc in week 4. You can find out all of the rules at http://games.dcu.ie/hvz. Signups should be opened this week, so stay tuned!
The event will run from Monday - Friday, and signups will be free. We'll also have a raffle at the start for a few nerf guns. Single tickets will be 50c, and a row of tickets (5 tickets) will cost €2.
The aim of the game for Humans is to stay alive, while stunning zombies by shooting them with nerf guns. The Zombies have to infect the humans by catching them. Zombies wear headbands, while humans wear armbands. A zombie will starve after 24 hours if they have not infected any humans. Each human has a kill pin which a zombie must enter on the website in order to register the kill.
That's all for today!
