Hey guys,
Sorry about the lack of notice about this workshop firstly. But anyway here
we have it, on Wednesday night after the Ruth Scott Workshop in the Glassroom
we are going to have a basic lighting workshop. This will cover a basic
set up for an interview, also some info on gels, difusion etc... and a few
other things. This will be handy for those of you hoping to shoot some interviews
in a studio type situation and any other static type situations in your
projects. Lights can be used in a lot of situations to add an extra dimension
to your scene so this basic course may help you a lot!! Well hope to see
as many of you as possible on Wednesday night,
David

Hi All!
I am up to the gills in course work (thank you Messrs Horgan, J. and
McGuinness, D. et al) but I thought I might fire out a few ideas into the
ether that is cyberspace (are You listening Lorraine?).
There was a very well publicized scandal about a doctor in Drogheda who
removed wombs from women without consent. The first monetary award was given
to a Kathy Quilty from Wales who has lived in Drogheda most of her life. She
had given birth to a son who suffers from cerebral palsy. The doctor removed
her womb. Tragic case and I am sure we are all familiar with it and the
subsequent revelations about said "doctor".
Shortly after her award, Kathy's boyfriend murdered her ex-boyfriend outside
her apartment, and attempted to kill her also.
Kathy's story has been inside and outside every newspaper in the land.
I have met Kathy (accidentally, didn't know who she was at first; we live in
same "block") on several occasions, during each time of which she was barely
coherent.
Anyway, her pronouncement at the time of receiving the reward was that it
will be used to ease her son's life
In this current time Fathers' Rights seem to be an up and coming cause
celebre. Bob Geldof has also come out in support of the issue. I was
pleasantly surprised when I found myself talking to the father of Kathy
Quilty's child. His story has rarely been enquired and on the occasions it
has, he has refused. However, he has agreed to give DCU an interview. A
scoop for DCU?
Anyway, my (public) phone number is: 087 96 96 757.
Gavin.
Hi there people,
For any of you budding screen actors out there...here's a pretty good opportunity
for you all.
We are making a short film, which will more than likely be shot in January
and are looking for the cast!
The short is a comedy and there are seven main characters in it. Four male
characters and three female characters. A brief description of all the characters
aswel as a description of the short film is attached below.
Auditions will be held on Wednesday 10th November between 7 and 9pm in the
Henry Gratton building in room CG04.
If you want more information, just hit the reply button and NOT the reply
all button and drop me a line.
Cheers,
Karen Howley
hey guys,
just to let you know myself and niamh will give a brief introduction to
the cameras on monday evening 5 - 6 (although it wont take that long) upstairs
in the clubs and socites area, meeting room 3. we're still trying to get
used to it ourselves but we know the basics! Hopefully we'll have it insured
by mid-week and then of course it's available for you to take out and have
a look at. All those involved in DCUTV, especially the crew members assigned
to cameras should really make an effort to make it.
Lighting and editing workshops are still unconfirmed but should be running
in the next two weeks aswell. in the meantime you all have a lot of brainstorming
to do to get started on the programmes.

hey, sorry to those this doesn't concern but you may want to take a look
anyway. here are the crews for programme productions. Will teh producers
of each cerw please contct your crew members (email numbers after their
names) arrange to meet up, brainstorm, ask and answer any questions and
meet with me at the end of next week. the roles are basically a guideline
as you'll see they will overlap as you follow through the production but
try to stick with what you're good at/interested in! i have assigned certain
productions to certain crews but of course i'm open to change- the fictional
piece is very much up in the air so you'll need to view some scripts and
come up with a good idea.
Sarah Neville - i've met with you, keep up the good work
Yvette Poufong - your researcher has to be good at getting what she wants-
we're looking for entry into pubs rememeber...
Laura johnson - i have an awful lot of research for you already- peter linneman
decided he'd like to 'expose' res but can't commit so i'l' have that for
you at our meeting.
attracta mooney, it's really up to yourselves what you want to expose, feature..
Everyone else i'll be in contact to see how you're getting on, but basically
as i said, get together with your group and brainstorm, come up with ideas,
feesability and then we'll see about getting started by week 9.
that's all, any questions mail me!
I'm also looking for ppl to film stars in their eyes live.
this is good experience for anyone who wants to work with cameras. We will
be projecting it onto a screen, and showing our pre-recorded "tonight i@m
gonna be..." things.
Email me back personally if interested : niamh.mulcahy2(a)mail.dcu.ie
Thanx guys and sory bout all the emails!!
