This week is solidarity week and Duiseacht are presenting a number of film
and documentary screenings with guest speakers are on during the week in
DCU, all the details are below.
Also Nomination sheets are on the MPS notice board for next years committee.
And a reminder to all, the deadline for entering the Smedias is tomorrow

Information stalls from lots of different groups including: Animal Rights
Network, West Papua Action, Falun Gong, Women?s Aid, Sustainable Ireland,
Ireland Palestine Solidarity, Outhouse, One World, Oxfam, Amnesty International,
Simon Community and more
Film screenings: 6pm C124:
Slam (1997) A black man (played by Saul Williams) from the mean streets
of Washington, D.C., learns that the rhyme is mightier than the razor in
Slam. An inspiring film about his struggle to keep out of street gangs,
violence and drugs ? through rhymes, poetry and slammin! The film gets its
name -- and inspiration -- from poetry slams that have become popular in
urban clubs around the country. A "slam" is a sort of recitation jam session
for young poets.
Football & Fascism BBC doc on how the Beautiful Game played into fascist
ideology exploring how fascist dictators, Mussolini, Hitler and Franco,
seized upon football's massive popular appeal and ruthlessly exploited it
as a vehicle for propaganda.

Eamon Crudden speaks about his documentary ?Burlusconi?s Mousetrap? on the
Genoa G8 summit of 2001.

Film screening:
Keepintime is a transgressional, hip hop documenatary by Brian Cross, aka
B+ (who is responsible for the artwork of many awesome record covers and
pictures of artists, including DJ Shadow and the complete QUANNUM crew).
It brings together some of the most notable LA session drummers with best
turntablists in the city of angels.

Edward Horgan ?Disturbing the Peace Civil [dis]Obedience and our duty not
to remain silent». Retired officer of the Irish Defence Forces and decorated
UN Peacekeeper, Horgan last year took a High Court case against the Irish
government over the use of Shannon Airport by US military planes to refuel
and overfly Ireland en route to the war in Iraq. He has a distinguished
record of service to the state including many UN Peackeeping missions. Today
he will be talking about Irelands complicity in the Iraq war and the upcoming
visit by Bush to Ireland.

Roger & Me Michael Moore documentary film chronicling the efforts of the
world's largest corporation, General Motors, as it turns its hometown of

Caoimhe Butterly in Palestine excellent Primetime documentary on the inspiring
Irish activist who spent time in Palestine as an International Volunteer,
during which she was in Arafats compound during the siege, and got shot
in the leg while escorting children to school

Its that time of year again, time for elections...
The MPS AGM will be held on Tuesday the 7th of April 2004. I will place
a list of the positions on the MPS notice board on Monday so you can sign
up there with which position you ar interested in.
Even if your not interested in running for a position please come along
to vote next years committee in.
Also its a chance for ye to give us your opinions on how the year went and
where we could improve things for next year.

Hey,
Anyone wishing to enter the smedias, has to have their entries ready by
Tuesday at 5pm. The closing date isnt until Wednesday, but because of the
postal strike we have to courier them to the offices. I'll be in the clubs
and socs office, first floor in the HUB, on Tuesday evening to collect the
entries and give ye the forms to sign to enter. Can everyone who wants to
enter, we are paying the entry fee, email me back and let me know if Tuesday
at 5 suits.

Hey guys,
The deadline for the smedias is fast approaching, all entries have to be
in by March 31st, a good bit earlier than previous years! For all the details
on categories and entry requirements check out the oxygen website, www.oxygen.ie.
If you want to enter a category can you please let me know as the MPS will
pay for your regrestration fee. The only catch is that i need to know by
Monday Morning!

interviewees while they're waiting to go into studio and in general keep
the live shows ticking over. it's a really really really important job and
i need about five or six people who can do shifts for the week. you'll be
a resident dcu fm legend possibly a sex god (but i don't have any paperwork
to back that up) and dare i say it... ok here it comes... it'll look great
on your cv!
