Hey guys,
Thanks to all who came to studio workshop today. Unfortunately we hadn't
time to cover much at all. There really is a lot more you need to know about
pro tools, but you really need sit down with it yourself.
Find those tutorial videos and notes I was talking about today at:
http://www.digidesign.com/disk/diskflix/
The video tutorials really are good for getting stated and v-easy to follow
Once you get the hang of pro tools, the studio is no probs to you now!
There is a PDF file on pro tools, including the basics of setting up session,
recording, editing, mixing and so on. It's too large to email so I'll throw
it up online tomorrow to download
Regards,

For those of you non-comms students at last week?s workshop, I'm still working
on being able to let you guys login to Macs for pro tools and taking out
MD's might be a prob.
Anyone who missed last week's workshop, I'll be going over pro tools again
in studio and more.

Hey everyone!!
Sorry for another email so soon but MPS has decided to hold a competition
for our DCU TV screening at our Christmas party which will be taking place
on December 7th.
The brief is to make a short video between 1 and 3 mins of anything you choose.
A perfect idea of something you could do is to make a music video for a song
of your choice but we will accept anything so go crazy!
The finished product must be 720 x 576 in size, exported as a Quicktime mov
and handed in on a cd. If anyone is unsure how to do this, just email us
and we can tell you how
In addition to this, we'll be holding an After Effects workshop this Thursday,
in C107 at 6 o'clock so this will give you additional help in editing your
video. Anyone who missed the final cut one last week can come along too and
we can give you a brief introduction to that also.
The deadline for the competition is Tuesday, December 6th at 12p.m. and there
will be a fantastic prize for the winner!
We'll be in the Hub all that week to sell tickets for our amazing Christmas
ball so entries can be submitted to the committee during that week at our
table in the Hub.
If anyone has any queries at all, feel free to email me at gillian.ohea2(a)mail.dcu.ie
or Rachel at rachel.obrien7(a)mail.dcu.ie
Basically, just be creative and have fun making it!
Good luck to everyone!

Hey guys
I know a lot of ye have projects at the moment and sorry to email so soon
after Rachel's email but DCU TV will be having a screening at our Christmas
party in a few weeks so now is the time to finish those programmes I hope
ye've all been making or indeed to start some while ye still have time.
I know a lot of people have their own ideas which is great but there are
also some who don't so i've attached a few rough ideas in case anyone doesn't
know where to start and is just looking for something basic to make.
If anyone has any interest in making these programmes or just getting involved
with them, you can email me at gillian.ohea2(a)mail.dcu.ie. additionally, if
anyone has an idea that they need help with, let me know and I can help organise
a crew for you, etc.
Anyway, good luck with projects and hope to see some programmes very soon!!!

Hi one and all,
Casting for the short film "love hate hope fear" will take place in CG05
on Wednesday the 23rd of November at 6pm.
This film will be very simply shot and will rely on the quality of the acting.
Come along and try your hand at it. Auditioning is really worth it even
if it is just a chance to read this script which is in my humble opinion
great. Beginners to the experienced will all be welcomed.
Basic plot: four young people have ended up in a psychiatric hospital for
varying reasons. Each of them agrees to tell the story of their past as
part of their therapy session. Each story is different but the script links
them and creates moments of electric emotional climax.
So come along on Wednesday, guaranteed you will see a little of yourself
in at least one of the characters.
