Gah sorry about that - have now set it so replies will auto go to
the list!
Anyway the idea in terms of tickets is that they will be badges
much like game cons with the colour setting them apart - weekend
is one colour, friday another etc. Having under 18s a different
colour means 8 different types of tickets which is doable.
Intending that the registration desk you must provide some form
of age identification - then they wear the tickets and it avoids
having to show your passport or whatever to everyone!
Yeah 14 sounds like a good age to stop at - means we have
Under 15s, 15PG, 15's, 18's certs right?
Yeah cool your on the quiz group :) Anyone who wants in just say
so!

<Yossarian> Hrm, if I'm not winning 'sweetest ass' - and my ass is winning for
being hairy in 'best hair' - then logic would dictate that drusilla has one
hell of a hairy arse. *ponders*
Right first thing to actually mention is that pazuzu has taken
another of the anime group jobs - so only 1 more left there.
Ok so another cool thing has happened - a group over in the USA
are doing an anime documentary and are intending to come over to
europe to continue the documentary and want to go by EirtaKon
as their first stop in Europe :) So they will be interviewing some
staff and attendees, filming and such.
Another point has arose... what age limit should be imposed on
the convention? Most UK cons run as 16+ but thats mainly due
to insurance Im told. Well DCU handels that so we just have
to consider what extra work that means for us. Thaed has volunteered
as a Youth Leader if we are going to allow under 16s to attend.
One thing that comes to mind is that while we will be having certs
put outside the showing rooms we will also have to have seperate
badges (tickets) for the youths to make it easier to see who and
who shouldnt be at a showing. During the day the bar will be closed
except for the showings so they are fine there but all the night
activites will be strictly 18+ anyway. We could have a show go
on if we want and some staff dont want to help out in the pub quiz
etc :)
Thoughts?

Right already we got a good few people helping out :)
Techie position has been filled by Dot - AMS PRO
One of the Anime group - Lev again of AMS Ents
Stage manager has been taken - Stephen "Hybridchild" Fox of Eirtaku.com
Still another 7 positions to be taken!
1 Registrations
2 Publicity
2 Anime Programme
3 Event Programme
1 Conbook Editor
If your uncertain about being able to fill the position or think you dont
know enough about the layout no worries, its better to have someone then
no one and AMS will be running every Thursday so just come along to any of
our nights and we will discuss whats happening and show you what the
place looks like.
In terms of the EirtaKon committee it is made up of the following
Director - Myself, sorry for not putting this to the vote :)
Co-Director/Staff Manager - Ross 'Cult' Duggan
Treasurer - AMS cmt member, this is due to the fact that AMS/DCU is funding the event.
PRO - one of the Publicity group
Anime Manager - one of the Anime group
Events Manager - one of the Ents group
Anne made aload of cool points about the jobs also.
We need Ents group quickly for competitions (i.e. fan-art, fan-fic.
Advertisments should be made soon as well, setting dead lines and all that stuff..)
Con book editor will have to include these points
- not to forget Con rules, maps and signs!
- overview about events, happenings on the stage, workshops,...
- for all the animes and videorooms a clear table in the middle
of the conbook is most handy (listing times, rooms, titles, eps.)
- if competitions, quiz or else is going on, terms and coditions,
dead lines, who is in charge,...
- opening hours for con, canteen, dealer's room and so on
- faq
Also
"Hang a big schedule where every helper can be listed for when, where and what
needed in the staff room (not to forget helpers who kept be free for jump in
here and there). Have a couple of reliable other "main helpers", who can be
asked and consulted by any other, specially new to the subject helpers."
Definitly being done :) Everyone will be shown the staff room and there will be
this list plus list of events timetable on whiteboard, also all the packs for
the showings - copies of the movies/episodes and the rating which will be hung
somewhere - will be placed in here. When a show is set that your over viewing
you head in, grab the pack and set up the room :)
And finally some other cool news!
Arts Magic Dvd is another sponsor for us and will be giving us dvds to give away
as prizes and possibly some extra cool gear for the goodie bags :)
Anime Crash is also sponsoring us and are allowing us to screen their anime PLUS
will be giving us never before seen stuff! Finally some previews :) They also
offer a large selection of Live-Action stuff which could make up some of our stuff.
They are also looking to dig out stuff for door prizes and goodie bags :D
Anyone have any contacts in companies that could help us? Hoping to also poke
Game and such companies to see if we can get some anime ps2 games or whatever
to give away etc.. Also I've been pimping EirtaKon in as many forums as I could
see them being usefull - if you see somewhere good that has not been done
before waffle and spread the news :)

hey is this on?

No virus found in this outgoing message.

Version: 7.0.322 / Virus Database: 267.0.0 - Release Date: 27/05/2005
Right exams are over and its time to get EirtaKon really moving!
For those who do not know we have had to move the convention back
to November 11th to 13th (Friday - Sunday)
So first things first - the main jobs :)
Registrations - 1
This will contacting people about payment, keeping the
list of members up to date and also mailing out the con
packs. If people wish to cancel you will be the person
they talk to. Once the con starts you will be General
Staff.
Stands - 1
Main contact for the dealers and stands. You will arrange
the setup in the main hall. You will contact the dealers
and keep them abrest of the recent developments and help
them out when they arrive. You will have a few people helping
you during the con to help out all the stands - you
wont be alone :)
Publicity - 2
A very serious job as advertisment will be the main part of
the con for the next few months. Two people are needed to post
about it wherever possible, contact stores and see about putting
up posters, contacting libraries, video stores etc Getting the
name out and about! During the con will be General Staff.
Tech - 1
Very busy job - have to be able to fiddle, and fix :), projectors
that stop working..sound systems.. pcs to projectors, laptops to
projectors - whatever really! IF stuff breaks we need someone there
to help us fix it. Will be a normal staff for most of the time but
will be called upon if others cant fix stuff. This is really to
lets us have someone to call on instead of grabbing whoever is nearest.
Anime Programme - 3
Ha the 'real' job :) This group will be responsible for organising the
anime, getting the permissions, schelduing the anime and being called
in when something isnt playing. Will be working throughout the con on
this!
Event Programme - 2
Anything non anime related more or less! Setting up the times for the
fan dubbing, talking with DCU Games Soc, DCU STOCS, anyone organising
little events on their stalls. The raffle, pub quiz etc. Alot of people
will have input here but these people run it. For instance everyone
can say what should be asked in the pub quiz but these guys stand up
and do it :)
Conbook Editor - 1
Get articales, nice pictures, put the adverts in nicly etc :) Good
english required - so Im out ;) Will be general staff for the con.
These are the main parts I can think of, anyone know of any more? Reply to
the list or email ams(a)redbrick.dcu.ie if interested in any of the parts.
They may seem like you need knowledge of whats happening that hasnt been on
the list but dont worry - we are a group and everyone will have the info
from now on ^_^; It will become rather more active now!
Also the General Staff part! I think we now have enough to have people
working one day - though if they want to help out more not going to stop
them :) General staff encompasses more or less everything! Standing around
and helping, sitting in showings that you want and calling someone if something
goes wrong, helping to set up and take everything down, supervising games, the quiz
etc.. everything :D
Thoughts?
