DCU Maths Society in association with Taking Care of Business (in a Flash) Promotions Presents The Random Pub Crawl Conceived by Dónal Dowling Based on a idea by Paul Erdós Inspired by a drink by Arthur Guinness What is it? Well it's a pub crawl with a difference. The idea is that we have a list of twelve pubs numbered 0-11... 0. Mulligans 1. The International 2. Doyles 3. Nearys 4. Bruxelles 5. O'Neills 6. McDaids 7. The Dawson Lounge 8. The Long Stone 9. Davy Byrnes 10. The Foggy Dew 11. Chaplins and we choose which pub to visit next based on a algorithm which is so pointlessly convoluted that I can't be arsed reproducing it here. Basically it generates a number between 0 and 11 which is added (modulo 12) to the number corresponding to the pub we happen to be in. I think this means that it's a Markov Process. Hopefully we'll have enough sober people to perform the necessary calculations over the whole evening. The starting pub will be McDaids which was chosen at random by the fine upstanding Karl Heneghan. The plan is to meet there at 7:30. We will be leaving said pub at 8:00 to proceed to the next licensed bonder. If anyone is late they will of course have no idea where we are. However you can contact me at 0872966423 or Dónal at 0879342498 to find out. Oh the excitement of it all! When is it? This Thursday April 4th. Why? Because consumption of alcohol might become a thing of the past if people don't support it (!) Hope to see you there. Any queries send me a mail. Ray. "Alcohol, now there's a temporary solution".
Hello again, Hopefully everyone who went on the pub crawl enjoyed it as much as I did. We're definitely going to have another one again soon. Donal's got the photos developed and Dana has kindly scanned some of them for us. We'll probably put them up on the web page sometime but if anyone wants the jpegs let me know and I'll mail them to you. And if that wasn't enough next tuesday we'll be having a table quiz in the bar at 7:30. There will be 8 themed rounds of 8 questions each. Themes are... The Simpsons Music Sport 80's TV Pictures Movies Famous Quotes Obscure Trivia those these may change come tuesday. Prizes are 100 for first and 50 for second with loads of spot prizes. Hope to see you there. Ray. "I'd rather have a beer on front of me than a frontal lobotomy."
