Hi all, In case you didn't know, RedBrick are having a halloween event this evening, in conjunction with Film Soc, Art Soc, and ST:DCU. "Nightmare on Elm Street", the classic, will be showing in T101 at 6:20pm, and the evening will continue in the new wine bar in the hub (from 8:30ish) where there will be prizes/free drink for fancy dress. =============================================================== Redbrick, GAA Supporters Society, PhysEng, and the Aussie Soc are proud to present The Breezer Societies Ball 2000 22nd November at The Grand Hotel Malahide This will be the biggest formal ball ever staged in DCU, and the biggest event this year in the DCU society social calendar. Quality acts have been lined up for this ball, which means no more cover bands and chart DJ's! We are talking twenty buses, 950 people, two floors, two bands, Three DJ's, four course meals, and £6,000 pounds worth of free drink! Headlining the night will be Picturehouse, one of Irelands biggest and premier live acts. Picturehouse have recently scaled the charts with a new live album, and sold out multiple nights in the Olympia. Northern boys Watercress will kick off proceedings, warming everyone up with their unique blend of shiny, happy music. For dance fans, Johnny Moy has been called upon to deliver the beats well into the night, with support from up and coming talent to be announced later. Tickets are priced at 28 pounds, which includes transport there and back, your meal, the bands, and at least two free drinks each. We have secured the services of Fairbrothers tailors to provide tuxedo's for the gents at a discounted price. A fitting room will be open the day the tickets go on sale, so get kitted out then for a cheaper tux! Due to its high profile, this event is expected to sell out fast. Luckily for you though, Redbrick has managed to secure 100 tickets for you guys! Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, you can RESERVE YOUR TICKET ON-LINE! How? Simply log in as you normally do, go to a shell, and type "ballticket". (For Flash Menu users, simply follow the "Reserve Ball Ticket" link). This service will be available from 10am on Tuesday 31st October, for the first 100 people to type it. This commits you to buy, and you MUST collect your ticket and pay for it in cash either at the Redbrick halloween bash in the new bar from 8pm Tuesday, or on Wednesday morning in the Hub. Failure to collect your ticket will mean that not only have you done some other Redbrick member out of a chance of getting a reserved ticket, but the ticket will be returned to the general pool and sold to someone else! Normal Ticket sales will commence at noon on Wednesday in The Hub. Apologies

Hi everyone, I'd like to sincerely apologise to everyone for the large amount of emails they've just received on the announce-redbrick list. Unfortunately, this has been due to a problem with our mailing list system, which has just recently been unable to handle the large influx of new members, and unfortunately overloaded. I'd like to stress that this is something which has been completely outside my control, and we think we have now corrected the problem. Some reminders

Hi all, Just a few reminders and details about various things that are happening in the society at the moment. Firstly, you may already know that our first big redbrick bash of the year, the RedBrick Freshers' ball, is on in the Temple Bar Music Centre THIS WEDNESDAY!! (18th) This is a completely free event for all redbrick members, with (limited) free drink in the bar beforehand, free buses there and back, and some of the hottest acts in Dublin entertaining. Tickets for this unmissable spectacle will be available from 12 midday this Monday, 13th in the ground floor of the Hub (new student centre), so be sure to pick one up. Also, as a reminder to all members who haven't renewed their accounts from last year - all non-renewed accounts will be disabled on Monday 6th November (first Monday of the month), so if you haven't renewed, you might want to try and do so before then... best way is to find a committee member, but you could also renew on monday, or pay directly into our bank account via the details on the website. Welcome to RedBrick

Hi one and all, Take a serving of excellent events, the best dj's and bands, a serving of email, 50 or so newsgroups (all on different topics), a good dollop of web/disk space, instant messaging, chat, then add in over 1000 DCU students and graduates to the mixture along with a hard-working committee and crap-joke making Chairperson, and what have you got? Why, only the best damn community in DCU.... Welcome, or welcome back to RedBrick :) If this is your first time on RedBrick, then you won't believe how much I envy you. You're entering into the most friendly, down-to-earth, intelligent, bustling community that it has ever been my pleasure to be a part of. You'll also find you get the more from RedBrick the more you take part - don't be afraid to venture into chat, or post your opinions on the newsgroups; there's some great stuff on there, academic, funny, argumentative, or otherwise. Don't forget to check out our website from time to time to - it's constantly updated, and there's some excellent resources on there, as well as our many users' webpages. And if you're in need of a hand at all, we have 3 helpdesk members elected for that purpose - check out their section on the redbrick website, or give them an email at <helpdesk(a)redbrick.dcu.ie> If you're actually not new to this redbrick stuff at all, already have an account, and are looking to renew your membership for the coming year, you can do so in a number of ways; 1) Catch us in the Hub street or in the canteen from 12-2pm from Monday to Friday this week (9th - 13th). 2) Pay your fee directly into the RedBrick bank account (details on the website frontpage), and send us proof of payment to our postal address; DCU Networking Society, DCU, Dublin 9. 3) Catch a committee member and pay them your fee. The fee itself is £2 for ordinary members (students, staff, postgrads), and £5 for associate members (graduates, or previous members of DCU). IMPORTANT: All accounts that are not renewed by the first Monday of November (Monday 6th) will be disabled; usernames will be reserved for the remainder of the year, but you will be unable to log on. Also, just a reminder about our FREE event coming up Wednesday Week (18th) in the Temple Bar Music Centre, with free buses there and back, David Kitt, Jilted, DJ HomerJ and FREE drink in the bar before hand!!
