Hello and welcome back to another month on Redbrick!
In this mail you'll hear about the upcoming events for the entire year,
and sadly also, the details about resignations from the committee
and the EGM to replace the lost members. Each area has their own
little snippet to offer up, clearly marked so if the area
doesn't concern you, you can simply skip it!
EGM
--------------
First up, a brief recap on the details surrounding the EGM. Some of you
already have heard that 3 committee members, keloe, thor and prolix have
(for varying reasons) decided to resign from the committe, stepping aside to
let some other members have their turn on the Merry Go Round. While we, the committee
are sad to see them go, we welcome any new addition to the team, and hope
that everyone eligible at least considers running for a position.
The vacant positions are Education Officer (helpdesk), Secretary and
Administrator. While secretary doesn't have any pre-requisites, Admin
and Helpdesk both require the candidates to sit a test, so please read
that section if you're interested in one of those positions. - Drusilla
ADMINISTRATORS
----------------
Due to the resignation of prolix, one of RedBrick's system
administrators, there is an open position on the redbrick admin team.
If you are interested in filling the position, you MUST take the admin
test, and pass it before you can run at the EGM. The test will be held on
Friday at 14:00. - MickeyD
HELPDESK
------------------
Due to keloe stepping down, we are interested in tricking someone new to
join us! :) To apply you must sit, but not actually pass, the helpdesk test.
This is going to be on this _Monday coming_, the 14th of Febuary in
CG11 - if this is a problem for you give us a shout and we
will see what we can do. Read over the tutorials and slides and poke
Atlas, Keloe or Art_Wolf and we will give you a hand if need be. - Art_wolf
UPCOMING EVENTS
------------------
Thank you to all who attended our events last semester and we hope
you will continue to join us at our events this year too. We have a
lot in store for you this semester starting with our annual Alt Rag
Ball (15th February).
This year we are doing things slightly differently and having this
years Alt Rag on campus, in the Venue and New Bar, as this year's
SU event is being held off campus. Our line up thus far consists
of our very own MC Dice, with our main act of the night being
The Kerbs followed by our own DJ Singer.
We are also starting up a new initiative this year by running our
very own Tech Week (28th February - 5th March), where we plan to hold
events such as talks, tutorials, the odd wine reception, an
"Installfest" and finishing up the week with a wireless manhunt in
the city centre, which promises to be a very energetic and fun way to
spend your afternoon.
Don't miss our Annual table quiz, to be held on the 29th of March,
full details will be confirmed nearer to the date.
RedBrick also hopes to hold the first of its (hopefully) annual awards
this year on April 5th, to thank our members for the work they
put in and contributions made to the society over the past year. This
will also be the same night as our AGM, so even more reason to pop
along! - dramaq
