* Downtime * Intersocs meet and greet ** Downtime ** This Monday the 1st there will be a short downtime at 5 till 5.30. So grab a sandwitch take a breather and come back to us :) ** Intersocs Meet and Greet ** We're meeting up with a few other colleges in the Bull and Castle (by christ church) at 9pm tomorrow Saturday the 29th. Its always a good laugh to meet faces behind the names and get a chance to meet new people over a pint, a pack of crisps and a good laid back atmosphere. Well id advise it anyway! (Worst come to worst directions on google maps i.e (C) on the attached screenshot) Thats all for now, back to looking busy dano

hey all its yours truly again, * Ice skating * Christmas party 11th * Web programming * Bar meet up *** Ice Skating *** Yes thats right we have acquired 30 tickets to strap you into a pair of boots you can barely walk AND THEN put you on ice!!! It is of course redbrick on ice! We are bringing the first 30 sign ups to go to the RDS with us on the 4/5th (not sure which yet). Ice skating is something everyone should try once! Dont worry if you've never been and think you'll be bad, trust me ... IM WORSE! (and a big fraidy cat). So if you even wana come and watch me fall your welcome too! A hugely successful event everytime! We will also have a post mortem drink in the woodshed afterwards! So come along even if you not at ice skating and we'll barely walk out of the pub together! *** Christmas Party *** Im going to keep reminding you of this as i want no one to miss out on this! We will be upstairs in the Slipper(Matt Weldons) on the 11th of December 2008! We will have mince pies, mulled wine, decorations, presents, prizes and a special jolly guest coming all the way from the north pole! (i wonder who that will be) I hear he's also bringing something special for all the good boys and girls on the night! As it is a medley of societies involved mainly on the nerdy side we will be giving a prize for the most nerdiest dressed of the night (We want creative!) and also for the most inappropriately dressed for the night! (as in not with the theme not like, well you know ... lets just say it is winter, we dont want anyone catching a cold) tell your friends this event is FREE!!!!! *** Web Programming *** This week we will be holding a Web Programming workshop held by our very own Andrew (werdz). This will be undoubtedly be a good workshop one that if tickles your fancy should not be missed! It is being held in LQ26 at 6 pm *** Bar Meet *** We as usual will be alway be found loitering around DCU old bar, but this is our specific Tuesday meet up! Most of the committee will be there and you should be too! Were not there for anything fancy just sitting relaxing and having a laugh! We like meeting with ye lot so come say hi! We will DEFINITELY (or at least i will be) be in the bar from 8 till whenever really! thats all i can think of for now anyway! dano *out*

hey guys * Weekly bar trip * Web Design Tutorial * Christmas Party * Intersoc Drink **** Weekly Bar Trip **** We decided the best way to get to know our users and for everyone to get to know each other is to orgaise a weekly meet.Every Tuesday we will all meet in the bar from 8 p.m on(starting this tuesday). Dont worry if you dont drink some of us dont so you wont be out of place but the bar staff are the ones who allow you in or out still :P This also gives us a chance to relax and get to know our members better. **** Web Design Tutorial **** Due to the ill advertisement of our Web Design tutorial we have decided to run this again. This will be held in LG26 at 6 p.m on Tuesday. This is usually one of our largest attended tutorials and can be useful to anyone and is great trait to know the basics of Web Design in any career path or just for fun. **** Christmas Party **** Cant wait for the Santa? Well were bringing the big man to you! Were taking over the upstairs of the slipper i week 9 or 10 (still deciding) for a night with fun, frolics, a chance to sit on santas lap and why do we sit?... Free Presents ofcourse! That's right we got santa to bring a stash of his finest sraight from the North Pole. We have loads of societies joining in and everyone is welcome! And better yet, its all free! So feel free to drop in and out! **** Intersoc Drink **** We are meeting with skynet and netsoc for a night out in the bull&castle on the 29th. This is a night to get together with other colleges that share common interests and have a laugh! A night not to missed out on and a reason to go drinking! regards, dano

Hey all, = Workshop = Pub night = Finland trip Workshop: On Tuesday the 11th, Redbrick are holding a beginners web design workshop In LG26 at 6PM. Come along to learn how to put your redbrick webspace to use. Drinking up the Woolshed on Friday!: On Friday the 14th at 8PM redbrick have booked us all our own little private area in the Woolshed. Cheap drink ranging from shots to pitchers or if you fancy a nice pint they pull'em good! So come alongits going to be a GREAT night! Finland trip: For those of you going to Finland with us there is a meeting on Thursday the 13th in the slipper(matt weldons) at 7p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to collect the rest of the money for the trip, see peoples passports and to give you a full itinerary. Cost for student is 160 and for associates 265 + 30 if you booked baggage. Any questions you have can be answered at the meeting or you can e-mail committee(a)redbrick.dcu.ie. dano

Hey guys and girls, Just an e-mail from your friendly neighborhood chair to let you all know whats going on this week in the world of Redbrick. Advanced Linux:- We have an advanced linux workshop, which will take place on Tuesday 4th at 6PM. If you have any questions that you want answered, or topics that you want covered at it, please email helpdesk(a)redbrick.dcu.ie. Helpdesk Exam: As most of you know we need to fill two helpdesk positions on the committee. In order to be eligible to run for this position a member must sit and pass an exam written by the current helpdesk. You can find past helpdesk exams at http://www.redbrick.dcu.ie/help/exams/. We are holding the helpdesk exam on Wednesday 5th in C123 at 1PM Toys for Big Boys: On Friday (7th) we are heading to Toys for Big Boys, so whatever you're into I'm sure the RDS can cater for your appetite. Tickets will cost our members €8 and we will be leaving The Hub at 1PM on Friday. If you are interested in coming sign up at https://www.redbrick.dcu.ie/events/signup/?eventid=3 by logging in with your Redbrick username and password. Night Out: Redbrick night out \o/ We're having a night out on Friday the 14th, from 8pm onward. We have reserved an area of the Woolshed (beside the UGC cinema in Parnell St.). There are cheap pitchers, cocktails and lots of fun to be had. Down Time: This Friday (7th) CSD have decided to play with their routers which means Redbrick will be unavailable :( Our admins are taking advantage of this downtime to apply updates to our machines. This means they will be rebooting minerva and the rest of the servers. Due to this you will need to create a new screen session when you log back in (if you use screen). This downtime will take place from 6PM until CSD finish fiddling with cables. If you have any questions e-mail chair(a)redbrick.dcu.ie. Also we are always looking for good suggestions for events.
