Hi folks, This is just a quick note to announce that RedBrick will be running a training program for members interested in becoming a System Administrator for the society. We're not decided yet as to the exact format or shape this program will take as we want to ascertain the level of interest and get some feedback first. However, the program will roughly comprise of a 'trainee-admins' mailing list and informal meetings where people can try out the installation and administration of UNIX machines (we hope to provide 1 or 2 machines for this). If you are interested, please be aware of the following requirements: - Candidates must genuinely be interested and able to guarantee that they will run for the position of admin at the next AGM (April next year). - Candidates must be willing to spend time reading up and trying out stuff on their own. - Candidates should preferably have some prior UNIX experience. - The number of places may be limited depending on interest.
