=RMS Talk=

The lovely people of NetSoc in Trinity have invited us along to a talk by the one and only Richard Matthew Stallman! For those of you who don't know who he is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Stallman . He is the founder of the Free Software Foundation and the GNU Project and is known for writing the GCC compiler and the text editor Emacs.
Not only is the above article essential reading for any computer scientist, but you have the opportunity to see the man himself in person! Well worth going to!

=Linux InstallFest=

If you would like to install Linux on your own personal machine, join us next week when our Helpdesk and Admin team will help you to do so.
We will provide installation discs to those who attend and if your laptop doesn't have a cd drive we will hopefully have some USB's to install Linux from as well.

=NUIG CompuSoc InterPints=

Location: Mac Turcaill's Pub, Townsend Street

NUIG's CompuSoc will be in town next week for a few pints and hope to meet up with some of us lovely 'Brickies. It should be a great night and a good chance to meet some fellow nerds for a bit of craic!

=FOSDEM=

Dates: 31st January - 2nd February 2014
Location: ULB Campus Solbosh,Brussels, Belgium
Website: https://fosdem.org/2014/

As you might be aware, a few years ago Redbrick went on the grand voyage to Brussels to attend FOSDEM (Free Open Source Developer European Meeting). This year the committee would really love to treat you and go again. The only issue is that we would have to leave Ireland on the final day of winter exams. This could pose a problem for some people, so we would love if you could email us at committee@redbrick.dcu.ie with any alternatives that you can think of!
