Week 11 Newsletter

Hello people branch here! The dreaded week 11 has arrived people, I know everyone (including myself) is very very busy working away on all manner of things. So that’s why we here at Redbrick want to wish you the best of luck and all our well wishes in these last few weeks.

Last week was an amazing week for talks, We had our great friends at Microsoft around for a great talk on Monday and we had our webmaster Fraz give an excellent first talk on Web Development. (I still remember my own first talk, Yikes!) If you feel left out that you didn’t get to come to something we hosted last week, We have some great stuff on for you all this week. We know you’ll all be busy but we’d love to see as many of you come as possible, especially to our Hackerclub competition where you might even win some prizes!

Demonware, Call of Duty & Hats

This week we have an introduction to Demonware, who they are and what they do to help support Activision Blizzard online games. What does it mean when they say they work in games? From Demonware, James Heslin, Meabh McCarthy, Shaun Dunne & Cormac Smartt (ex Redbrick SysAdmin) will be joining us to explain what working at Demonware is like and what Demonware does for Call of Duty!

Hackerclub Competition

After weeks of persistent problem solving and programming, it's safe to assume you all know your STDIN from your STDOUT.

Now you get to prove it to us! This week, HackerClub will hold a friendly little competition which is open to everyone and anyone!

Will it be a little harder before from your weekly run of the mill HackerClub? Yes. Will there be prizes? You bet ya! Pop in to L101 on Thursday at 16:00 and join in on the fun!
