Hi Everybody, Here's a couple of general announcements :
The RedBrick Annual General Meeting (AGM):
Date: Tomorrow, Thursday 6th April Time: 7 PM Venue: QG13/15 (In the Business School) On the Agenda will be reports from the Chairman, Treasurer, and the election of a new committee. Nominations for committee positions will be taken from the floor when called for; the positions up for grabs are: Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, ENTS officer, 3 x Education Officers (Helpdesk), Webmaster, and Public Relations Officer (PRO). We strongly urge members to attend, and to "celebrate", RedBrick will be going in for Dinner at "Wagamama"'s, off the top of Grafton Street. Tickets cost £4, which includes a meal, and a bus from DCU after the AGM. Tickets will be available at the AGM.
The RedBrick Web Design Competition:
Yup, RedBrick are holding a Web Design Competition, open to all our members (That's you :) ). We've got approx £150 for prizes too, so it's worth giving it a go... There'll be 3 places in the prizes; 1st, 2nd, and unsurprisingly, 3rd. The exact prizes have yet to be decided upon, but for more details check the redbrick.announce newsgroup or the News page on the RedBrick website. The competition is open as and from today, and the closing date for entries will be Wednesday, 19th of April. That's 2 weeks from today, basically. For more information, and rules etc. of the competition, check out www.redbrick.dcu.ie/webcomp.html There'll be a link to it from the RedBrick News page.
The RedBrick Programming Competition:
In addition to the Web design competition, RedBrick will be hosting a small Programming competition, this time, open to all members of the University, RedBrick member or not. A date has yet to be confirmed for this, but we reckon it'll be on Wednesday, 19th April. You'll be informed nearer the date, or keep an eye out on the redbrick.announce newsgroup or the News webpage. There will be two categories in this: C/C++ and Java. We have lots of prizes for this competition (more than for the Web competition), and sponsorship by Guiness, so it should be quite interesting. The details of course, have yet to be finally decided upon, but keep an eye out for details. Sorry about the mass mail. Hope to see you all at the AGM.
