Week 9 Newsletter

Hello brickies branch here!

Week 9 has arrived, I hope everyone is doing well and getting all their work done, I know we’re nearing the end of the semester and the start of a lot of tests.

But don’t worry Redbrick is here to help, we have stuff to help give you a break from all that work and stress.

We have a big announcement for next week Redbrick is having it’s AGM, its going to be great time. We hope as many people can come along to run and vote on the open positions ( More Info down below.) along with our annual Redbrick Quiz!

Again this week Hackerclub is still on it’s break . But this week we have a great talk from our chair mctastic on building a shell! We want to invite as many people as possible to come along and have a bit a fun, learn a few things and maybe even get some pizza! We're also helping out our friends in LOL Soc with their Computer Building Workshop, be sure to come along!

We're helping out our friends in LOL Soc this week with their Computer Building Workshop in the Chuilin Room (KA113) on 27th at 6pm. It's sure to be a great time to learn a few new things and have some fun so be sure to attend!

Building a shell from scratch

You use a shell pretty much all the time, but most people don't actually know how it works under the hood. Often the best way to understand software is to mimic it, to build your own! This Wednesday, Redbrick show you how to understand the shell by building your very own. We will cover the execution process, implementing your own commands, I/O redirection and much much more!

Redbrick AGM 2019

Tuesday the 3rd of April is torch passing day! That's right folks, the Redbrick AGM is here, which means it's time to say farewell to the current committee as we know it, and start building an even better one for next year! On Wednesday the 3rd of April at 6:30pm we will be running elections for all committee positions. If you need a reminder the positions are: - Chair - Vice Chair - Secretary - P.R.O. - G.D.O. - Events Officer (x2) - Treasurer - System Administrators (x3) - Helpdesk (x2) - Webmaster - Ordinary Member (x2) If you are thinking about running for the position of helpdesk, admin or webmaster, please email us at committee@redbrick.dcu.ie so we can prepare the exams and sharpen our knives.
