Hey all, It's almost the end of the semester, so naturally things are dying down a bit, but we've still got a few things left! -"What's the Bright Idea?" Undergraduate Awards -Clubs & Societies Ball -Christmas Party -NetSoc LAN -Common Room Issues --"What's the Bright Idea?" Undergraduate Awards-- For those of you who have registered, the event is on at 6:30 pm in the Odessa on Monday evening. Hope you all have a good night there! --Clubs & Societies Ball-- The Crowne Plaza Hotel plays host to the DCU Clubs & Societies Ball this Tuesday from 7:00 pm with a mulled wine reception. Hope you enjoy yourselves if you're going! --Christmas Party-- This Thursday (December 8th), the intersociety Christmas party will take place at 8:00 pm in Matt Wheldon's (The Slipper). Also attending will be Art Soc, Eng Soc, Strange Things, Games Soc, Airsoft, and Paranormal Soc. There'll also be a visit from Santa (and yes, he'll have presents!) as well as platters and drink deals! Hope to see you all there! --NetSoc LAN-- We've been invited to go along to Trinity Halls to take part in the BYOPC NetSoc LAN on Saturday 10th of December. It will take place from 6:00 pm until 10:00 am the next morning. Make sure to bring your own ethernet cables and power supplies/adapters! --Common Room Issues-- Several complains have been made by various students and members of staff about people's use of the common room. Things such as litter being left on tables, plates not being put in the dishwasher, and food being eaten on the couches have been brought up. As well as that, there were complaints with regards to the noise (such as excessively loud music from the television and people shouting. Please keep it down, as there are labs, offices and lecture rooms in the building where people are trying to work.), the content of the whiteboard (rude or offensive things being written on it), and non-members being allowed in by members (ONLY members of Redbrick and EngSoc are allowed in. Nobody else. If your friends want in, they have to be a member of one of the societies). If this goes on, there is a big chance that the room will be taken away from us next semester. If the rules continue to be broken, access to the room may have to be temporarily revoked for the infringing member(s). That's all for now. Regards, Niall Gaffney Redbrick Secretary
