Hey all, this week is Tech Week. A week to celebrate all things technology related. Here's what we've got on this week: == Intro to Selenium IDE with Failho == == OpenNet Programming Competition == == Moodle Founder Talk == == Paul Bunbury's Anniversary Mass == == Intro to Selenium IDE with Failho == Date: Tuesday 19th February Time: 6pm Loccation: TBC Selenium IDE is a development environment for Selenium scripts. It is implemented as a Firefox extension, and allows you to record, edit, and debug tests. It can also be used for converting IDE tests using Selenium Webdriver to allow for fast cross browser testing. Carri will be giving us a brief introduction to the Selenium IDE, it's history and some theory. Then on to the fun stuff; She'll be running through some quick "do it yourself examples" and showing us how to imitate the behaviour of real users of a website/web application using Selenium. == OpenNet Programming Competition == Have skills? Want to make some easy cash dollah? Openet in conjunction with RedBrick are holding a coding competition on 20th February. You will be given a problem and have 90 minutes to code up a solution in either Java or C++. The competition is open to 3rd, 4th and full- time masters students. The prizes are as follows: 1st: €1000 2nd: €500 3rd: €500 And up to €500 in spot prizes up for grabs on the day with free finger food and drink to all entrants provided by the NuBar. Registration starts at 2:30 in The Venue. == Moodle Founder Talk == Date: Wednesday 20th February Time:6pm Venue: HG23, Nursing Building, DCU. Registration Link: http://bit.ly/Wj8u4M Moodle Founder Martin Dougiamas, will be giving a free talk entitled "The challenges of designing and delivering an open source project" during tech week this year. For anyone thinking of going into software development this will be a great opportunity to hear from an experienced industry professional. To date, Martin has worked on a number of projects including 'Moodle', which is now used in over 200 countries by over 1 million educators. This talk is free of charge however registration at the link above is necessary. We hope to see you there. == Paul Bunbury's Anniversary Mass == Paul's first anniversary mass is being held in St. Aengus' Church on the 13th of March at 10:00am. All are welcome to attend.
