Hi all, It's my great pleasure to announce that the fevered dreams of software talks and the sordid hopes for coding demonstrations that you've been harbouring can finally be realised. This week is Techweek, the busiest week of the Redbrick calendar and an excuse for committee to wear lanyards and throw parties. Peek at the schedule and see what catches your eye; unfortunately there are no blackhat talks organised, but if you can hack into azazel then I'm sure you'll get a mention somewhere during the week! In case I didn't mention it loudly enough, here's what's on this week: +Techweek - Monday to Friday - The Mezz ============================================================ Techweek +Date: 15-19 February +Location: The Mezz (upstairs in the hub), DCU +More info: http://techweek.dcu.ie/ ============================================================ The biggest tech week of your tech year will begin in just a few hours! Starting at 2.45pm, you can look forward to talks from me, Google, Citrix, induxi0n, HEAnet, Hubspot, me & induxi0n, and some of your finest Redbrick compadres, such as me & induxi0n, right here in DCU! Invite your techy friends, your programming parents, and your tearful Gentoo-using ex-lovers; if you look the schedule at techweek.dcu.ie, you'll find something to delight and excite anyone. ============================================================ De/Coding Openet Coding Competition +Date: Thursday 25th February +Time: 2pm - 8pm +Location: The Convention Centre, IFSC +More Info: http://graduate.openet.com/de-coding-openet-event/ ============================================================ Are you interested in programming? Do you want to win a Surface Pro 4 and 500 Euro, a Komplett.ie voucher, or one of many spot prizes? Do you know where the convention centre is? This sounds like the event for you. Even if you can't code, you're invited over at 6pm for the reception to poach their food, steal their drinks and find out what the largest privately-owned software business in Ireland actually does. Make sure you register before this Friday, the 19th, to be in the chance to win some of the great prizes they're promising, and to have a bit of fun. ============================================================ Inter-Computer Society Hackathon +Date: Friday 04/03 - Sunday 06/03 +Location: NUI Galway +More info: https://hackathon.netsoc.co/ ============================================================ NUIG Compsoc are inviting ourselves, Trinity, and UCC over for a good old-fashioned hackathon at the beginning of next month, and Redbrick will be organising transport and accommodation for anyone interested. If you want to get your name in the hat for the hackathon, just fill out this little survey: https://committee.typeform.com/to/iokVka There will be some very cool hardware to play with, along with a host of friends and foes from the other universities, all in the beauty of the Wild West that is Galway.
