Hello everybody, Welcome to the week 8 announce! We have some awesome events lined up for you this week! In this weeks announce: - Screen@Redbrick: War Games - Associate talk: Fun@Redbrick - Helpdesk talk: Web Design ============================ Screen@Redbrick: War Games ============================ + When: Monday 10th at 6pm + Where: C165 + Description: War Games is a 1983 American Cold War science-fiction film written by Lawrence Lasker and Walter F. Parkes and directed by John Badham. A young man finds a back door into a military central computer in which reality is confused with game-playing, possibly starting World War III. This is a fantastic movie and if you haven't seen it, it's well worth the watch! You should definitely come along and bring some friends! It's a great way to chill out after a long Monday! And of course, there will be pizza! See you all there! ========================================================= Associate talks: Release Process and Working at Facebook ========================================================= + When: Tuesday 11th at 6pm + Where: C165 + Description: For this week's Associate talk we will be hearing from James "Reggie" Reilly (aka fun). James is a former Admin and Chair of Redbrick, and is currently a production engineer at Facebook! He will be telling us all about what it's like to work at Facebook, and will be giving us an insight into their release process and he will also be taking a look at their load balancing infrastructure. This is going to be a great talk and a fantastic opportunity to hear about his experiences while working at Facebook. We hope to see you all there! ================== Helpdesk@Redbrick ================== + When: Wednesday 12th at 3pm + Where: LG25 + Description: This week's helpdesk will be given by our new webmaster, voy, and will deal with creating modern looking websites with some pretty CSS3 techniques. We will also revise the basics of HTML for those whose skills are a little rusty, or for those who've never used it before! By the end you will have a small and sleek personal website, uploaded on Redbrick Webspace, so you can show off your fancy new skills to your friends and family. This is going to be a really interesting talk and will definitely be worth coming to! We're looking forward to seeing you all there! Well thats all till next week!
