Hi, A quick update on Finland from your ents officer! As you know signups are taking place at the EGM (seminar room at 4pm tomorrow where first year rep and chair will be elected. PIZZA! \o/ ). Places will be limited to just 20 people, and a €10 deposit will be required tomorrow to secure your place. Estimated total cost is between €120 and €150. Proposed dates at the moment are 4th/2/2009 - 8th/2/2009. A draft itinerary has been drawn up and at the moment it looks something like this: Wednesdsay 4/2/2009 Meet at airport at 5am Take Ryanair flight to Tampere Get a bus to Helsinki Check in at hotel and chill for a bit Go for food and drinks Zzzz Thursday 5/2/2009 Breakfast Visit Finnish Technology museum (http://www.tekniikanmuseo.fi/) Walk around Helsinki where you'll have a chance to go shopping or just wander around (I'll provide maps with shopping areas, areas of interests, our hotel etc. marked on them so we don't lose anyone!) Go for dinner and drinks Friday 6/2/2009 Breakfast Visit Finnish Science Museum for a physics exhibition where you can try out a Formula One simulator (http://www.heureka.fi/portal/englanti/exhibitions/speed/) Free time to wander around Helsinki Go to watch an ice show (http://www.helsinki.fi/en/index/matkailu/liikunta/railwaysquareiceparkopen.h...) Saturday 7/2/2009 To be Decided Sunday 8/2/2009 Go back to Tampere to catch our flight. Arrive back at about 2pm. If anyone has any other suggestions give me a shout. The freshers event is taking place on Thursday 9/10 at the Old Bar in conjunction with Music Soc. Live music, freshers and a raffle. And the Old Bar is back. What more could ya want?
