[Antisellafield] (no subject)
Hi, I would just like to respond to Mark from NCAD. While I think that a protest outside Sellafield might be a good idea, it won't acheive an awful lot, the people there already know how Irish people feel, it would just be a small hassle for them, they won't suddenly close Sellafield because afew Irish students stand outside. I think not buying British goods is a better idea, at least if we could get the wide support of the public in general. Then big companies, ie Marks and Spencers would lose alot of business (hopefully) and they would give feedback to the British government. Loss of money is the only thing these people respond to. My job was to find out about oppostion groups, and there's so much information out there, basically just look at www.bnfl.co.uk and see what a marvellous safety record sellafield has and how many MPs support it etc. "Mr Key expressed his support for the nuclear industry, and Springfields in particular. "The Springfields workforce is vital to a great British industry. I'm very impressed with the cutting edge of safe technology utilised here. No-one has convinced me we can do without nuclear energy."" I take this as a challenge. "Mr Key also spoke on the benefits of nuclear energy at a fringe meeting at the party conference. "I firmly believe that by maintaining the nuclear contribution to our energy supplies the UK will reap the benefits of security of supply as well as the reliability and environmental benefits of nuclear energy," he said. Springfields' Staff Side Secretary Chris Cummings said it had been important to meet Mr Key. "He showed a clear understanding of the challenges and issues facing the nuclear industry in general. Sorry, I didn't write an actual report, just look at their website. Looking forward to seeing what the rest of you think, Ciara (from UCD) -- _______________________________________________ For the largest free email available in Ireland (25MB) and File Storage space (20MB), visit http://www.campus.ie Powered by Outblaze
