hi all,
more on the sellafield trip:
some things to bring: yourself, some money ;-( at least £30), warm clothes(several layers), placard(at least one each), white overalls if you can get some, colourful costumes, juggling gear, food, a sleeping bag if you want one on the bus(cheapy dunnes type probably best for the bus, to go over 2 people on seat) and sadly, but probably very necessary, an umbrella ;-(
there are probably many more things i've forgotten, like chalk to write on the pavements and such, but if anyone thinks of anything, then e-mail it, or at least bring it.
What we need, if you can help(you don't have to be going to help):
geiger counters, placards, banners, white overalls, musical instruments, T.V. crew( or digital video camera), laptop( to file stories) roaming mobile phones, candles(we may be outside the plant in the early morning/early evening darkness)
we are also intending to present to the people of cumbria options to replace their economic dependency on sellafield. if anyone knows of work which has been done on this, has information on it, wants to make up a flyer, work this into their banners, etc. please do so and/or let us know.
I was thinking something like: "Visit Historic Sellafield, where the myth of nuclear power finally died", "Sellafield, BNFLs' advert for non-nuclear energy"
There are also events taking place around the country on sunday afternoon to mark opposition to the continuing operation of sellafield. these events will be street theater and music as well as a candlelight vigil and/or rally. really it's up to the organisers in each place. call 087-2320437/086-3096791 for details, we can send out material/information to help if you'd like to organise one in your own town.
there's a plan to go back to sellafield in december when they put plutonium into the MOX plant around the 20th, so if you can't come now. make sure you come then. or in january ;-) ... unless they've given up by then...hee-hee
ciao, barry
