Daytrip to Armagh Planetarium - Saturday,
November 27th
Armagh Planetarium is one of the best - if not the
best - planetariums in the world, featuring a stunning science centre and
state-of-the-art digital theatre.
Dr Tom Mason, the director of Armagh Planetarium,
is also President of the International Planetarium Society in recognition of his
amazing institute.
The Violent Universe is the new show that
we will be watching. Space is not as calm as we think when we gaze at the stars
at night. The raw power of the Big Bang billions of years ago gave rise to a
Universe of black holes, exploding stars, asteroids slamming into planets, and
colliding galaxies! This show will explore the ferociousness and cosmology of
the vast Universe. Afterwards, we will be treated to a special show guiding us
through the night sky.
Every year, Astronomy Ireland hires a coach to take
you to Armagh in comfort and in company. This year's trip takes place tomorrow,
Saturday, November 27th. We will start the day at the Astronomy Ireland shop
with tea and coffee, and a special display and demonstration of telescopes. The
coach will then leave at 10am sharp and we will make our way to
Armagh.
The trip to Armagh Planetarium and the beautiful
city will be great fun, and we hope you can bring friends and family for a great
day out.
