1. Annual Trip To Armagh Planetarium

This Saturday, November 7, the Astronomy Ireland annual day trip to the Armagh Planetarium will take place. Join us for a spectacular trip around the universe in a specially commissioned show in the Star Theatre as well as the many interractive exhibitions that feature in the Planetarium. You will also have an opportunity to explore the grounds, walk around the human orrery and tour the Observatory with us. The bus will depart from the Astronomy Ireland office in Butterly Business Park, Artane, Dublin 5 (there is a map at www.astronomy.ie/map) at 10:00am and we expect to be back in Dublin at 7:00pm that evening. The cost of the trip is 45euro per person. 2.  "Big Bang" Lecture & DVD
 
Astronomy Ireland are holding a Major Public Lecture for National Science Week 2009 next Monday on November 9 in Trinity College Dublin. Dr. Cormac O' Raifeartaigh of Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) will explain everything you ever wanted to know about the Universe but were afraid to ask!
 

What happened at the Big Bang?
How did all the stuff in the Universe fit into such a small space?
How did it all begin?
