Star-B-Q 2010 Lineup Astronomy Ireland are delighted to announce the lineup for this years Star-B-Q which is promising to be our biggest ever with an exciting night of guest speakers, Giving a talk entitled "Did We Really Land on the Moon?", Dr Martin Hendry of the University of Glasgow will investigate a variety of moon landing hoax claims like why the flag was fluttering if there was no atmosphere on the Moon, or why the shadows of the astronauts don't add up. The audio-visual presentation is promised to both inspire and enlighten audience of all ages. In his talk "The Secrets of the Stones", Anthony Murphy of Mythical Ireland will take guests on a tour of Ireland's ancient burial sites, including Newgrange, Knowth, and Dowth, and show how the mysterious Stone Age tombs were, in fact, colossal observatories built to observe the motions of the Sun and the Moon. Over the course of his talk, Anthony will speak about the ancient artwork inscribed on stones all over the country, how the Stone Age people of Ireland were master astronomers and why they linked astronomy with burial sites In his talk "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe" Astronomy Ireland Chairman and Ireland's best known astronomer, David Moore will describe everything we know about the Sun, Moon, Planets, Stars, Galaxies and the Universe as a whole. As well as all this guests will be treated to a delicious barbecue served up by Michelin-experienced chefs, some of Ireland's biggest and most powerful telescopes will be set up for everyone to use as they wish to explore the wonders of the Universe and also a junior section for young budding astronomers.
