1.  "Cosmic Ghost"  -  Major Summer Public Lectures  -  International Speaker
For our big Summer Public Lecture, Astronomy Ireland are flying in a very special speaker from the Netherlands to speak to you in Donegal and Dublin. Hanny Van Arkel, a school teacher and amateur astronomer, is currently on a world tour, and will be explaining the one million, million, million, miles wide object which she discovered. The object has not yet officially been classified, but is thought to be the size of a galaxy. It has been named 'Hanny's Voorwerp' in her honour, and has baffled scientists and astronomers alike since its discovery in 2008. Hanny will come to Ireland next week to tell her story about this unknown object, what it is thought to be, and how citizen science plays an important part in developing our understanding of the universe.

Hanny will deliver her lecture for you in two locations in Ireland:
For more information about these exciting lectures visit www.astronomy.ie.
Tickets are 7euro (non-members) or 5euro (members and concessions).

There will be a reception with complimentary food in The Lombard at 9:30pm, after the Dublin Lecture (see below).
