2. ISS Blazing Across
Irish Skies
Many of you saw the "Space Chase" last
night as the space shuttle Discovery crossed the sky, closely followed by the
International Space Station (ISS) from which it undocked yesterday afternoon.
This extraordinary sight was enhanced by the fact that both bodies passed just
over Jupiter which was already shining brightly in the evening sky.
The ISS is visible in the night sky
until Sept 22 and for more details visit www.astronomy.ie/ISS. For times to view
the space station there are predictions on
the internet, however if you would like to receive a reminder to your phone just
a couple of hours before it passes, text the word SPACE to 57003. Each text
costs €1 and proceeds help us to promote science and astronomy in
Ireland.
Remember to email what you see to observe@astronomy.ie each time you see
ISS and we will try to include your report in the forthcoming issues of
'Astronomy & Space'.
