Astronomy Ireland's Evening Classes begin tonight in Letterkenny and Athlone. There are still places available at both locations, so don't hesitate to enrol if you want to learn everything you ever wanted to know about the Universe!

The Dublin and Cork Evening Classes have already begun, but it's still not too late to enrol if you missed last week's registration. Simply click HERE to get to your enrolment form.

Topics covered include: The Night Sky, How to Use a Telescope, The History of Astronomy, Life in the Universe, and much more! The Evening Classes are an ideal way to get a good understanding of astronomy, from finding your way around the sky and constellations, to learning about how stars work and how the Universe was created. They are designed for beginners, and there is no maths involved. If you're not already a member of Astronomy Ireland, the enrolment fee will also include 20 months membership to the organisation, so you can receive our magazine, Astronomy & Space, every month.

2.  ISS Caught on Camera

The International Space Station (ISS) will be visible in Irish skies again towards the end of this month; in the meantime you can view the ISS on this MOVIE which was recorded by German astrophotographer Dirk Ewers on October 11th.  Ewers trained his 5-inch refractor on the ISS as it passed overhead in the pre-dawn sky, and recorded his must-see movie. "It was nice to see sunlight glinting from the European Columbia module and the autumn-like colour of the solar panels," says Ewers.

The ISS appears as an extremely bright star-like object; it is larger than Croke Park and is an awe inspiring sight. For more information about the Space Station click HERE. It will be visible in the evenings over Ireland later on this month.

To receive a message to your mobile with the time the ISS will be visible simply text SPACE to 57003 (reply STOP to unsubscribe). Each text costs 1euro, and only one message will be sent per day. Proceeds help to promote interest in astronomy across Ireland.
