1.  Irish Link to International Space Station!
We only just found out about NASA TV linking up with Cork on Monday Feb 4 at 12:30pm (our time). The reason? The astronaut Dan Tani who has been on board the International Space Station since last October is married to an Irish woman from Cork. NASA TV will carry a live link up from ISS to Blackrock Castle Observatory in Cork which you can watch on the net at www.nasa.gov/ntv
If you miss it we hope to put a recording on our "video archive" page on our website: www.astronomy.ie/video
Lots more details of this story are on http://breakingnews.ie/ireland/mheyqlcwqlcw (highly recommended)

NASA will also celebrate its 50th anniversary by transmitting the Beatles song "Across The Universe" at midnight (our time) on the night of Feb 4th to the star Polaris (the North Star) 431 light years away!
There's a good story about this at www.tinyurl.com/3xqn5z
Play the song here www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rj-4t9drUlM

2.  International Space Station visible until Feb. 17
Speaking of ISS, you can see it blaze across the sky every evening from Feb 4 until Feb 17.
On board are 3 astronauts.  Amazingly the next space shuttle mission is due for launch on Thursday Feb 7 and we should see it chase ISS across the sky around 8pm!

We're going to follow this story daily on our Newsline 1550-111-442 (calls cost 95cent/minute)

And also on our TEXT service: text SPACE to 57003 (each prediction costs 1euro and is sent about 1 hour before ISS flies over).

Proceeds from these services help us promote interest in astronomy in Ireland so please tell all your friends!
