1. Astronomy
Ireland Features on the Afternoon Show on RTE
Chairman of Astronomy Ireland,
David
Moore, made a guest appearance on RTE's
flagship daytime TV programme, The Afternoon Show, on Monday, where he
talked with Sheana Keane about the International Space Station, telescopes, and
the amazing fireball that exploded over Ireland on September
3rd.
URGENT: Do
you think RTE and the Afternoon Show should do more items on
astronomy? Let them know how you feel by emailing emails@theafternoonshow.ie, especially
as this is the U.N. International Year of Astronomy.

3. ISS Continues to Blaze Across
Irish Skies
Many of you saw the recent "SPACE
CHASES" as the space shuttle Discovery crossed the sky, closely followed by the
International Space Station (ISS). Discovery landed safely but the ISS will
continue to be visible in Irish skies until September 22nd!
For more details visit www.astronomy.ie/ISS. For times
to view the space station there are predictions on the
internet, however if you would like to receive a reminder to your phone just a
couple of hours before it passes, text the word SPACE to 57003. Each text costs
€1 and proceeds help us to promote science and astronomy in
Ireland.
Remember to email what you see to
observe@astronomy.ie each time you see
ISS and we will try to include your report in the forthcoming issues of
'Astronomy & Space'.
