1. A.I. TV Show
The January instalment of the Astronomy Ireland TV Show on City Channel's 'The Evening Show' will air this Wednesday, January 27th at 7pm and 9pm and again on Thursday, January 28th at 8am and 11am. This month, Astronomy Ireland Chairman, David Moore, will be speaking about how Mars is at its closest to Earth for 4 years (see the red planet at our Nationwide Mars Watch ), the New Year's Eve Lunar Eclipse, Astronomy Ireland's 20th Anniversary, Nationwide Evening Classes, and much, much more. If you don't get to see the show on Wednesday or Thursday, don't worry - the show is repeated on Saturday, January 30th at 8pm as part of the shows omnibus. City Channel is available to all Chorus/NTL customers in Dublin, Galway and Waterford and all of Munster. To watch this and previously aired shows log on to www.astronomy.ie/TV.
 
 
2.  Career Opportunities
Are you looking for a unique line of work in astronomy education? Astronomy Ireland is recruiting people to fill positions available in our Education Programme and Evening Classes, as well as in Telesales Administration.
 
Education Programme
Astronomy Ireland is building its team of Education Officers to travel to schools around the country and give talks on space and astronomy to the future scientists of Ireland. In this unique role you will have the opportunity to plant the seeds of curiosity of nature in the minds of young people. Our talks are now designed to fit in with the school science syllabus. If you would be interested in giving talks in your area please contact conor@astronomy.ie.

Evening Classes
As part of our biannual Evening Classes running in 10 locations all over the country, Astronomy Ireland is seeking enthusiastic astronomers to become new and backup tutors for the course, with a skill in explaining scientific concepts to the general public. 3.  Nationwide Mars Watch
This Friday, January 29, Astronomy Ireland will hold a Mars Watch at various key locations around the country. We encourage everyone to come along with friends and family, and see Mars and the Moon through some of Ireland's most powerful telescopes. Watches will begin at 8pm and currently confirmed locations are: Clare, Dublin and Waterford with more to follow. For more information and to check your nearest Watch click HERE. Please note Watches will go ahead regardless of weather.
 
 
4.  Evening Classes Nationwide
Our extremely popular Evening Classes begin again at various locations around the country on February 3. The classes, aimed at the beginner, cover everything you ever wanted to know about the Universe. For more details log on to www.astronomy.ie/class or call us on (01) 847 0777.

Wednesday, February 3: Cork, Dublin, Dundalk, Letterkenny, Sligo, Tralee and Waterford.
