COME & HEAR AMAZING INTERNATIONAL SPEAKER
Dear Friends of Astronomy Ireland,
This month we have organised something very special indeed for you, and we want you to bring all your family and friends, and help us promote this event over the weekend in any way you can (social media, etc!)
On Monday evening we are flying in author, broadcaster and life in the universe expert Lewis Dartnell to give a highly entertaining talk on all the sounds from space that have been collected to date. If you haven't heard them it's a well kept secret.
You will be very surprised, and amazed, at what has been gathered, from the Sun ringing like a bell, to the dead cores of giant super-dense exploded stars that sound like everything from a woodpecker to a humming bird!
Lewis Dartnell is a gifted public speaker too. Some of you may have heard the talk he gave us last year to a packed out audience, the amazing visuals he had (I still can't believe some of the simulations he showed), and the thunderous applause at the end of his talk. (Order that talk "October 2010" at www.astronomy.ie/dvd if you can).
So we expect next Monday to be something special as well and we want to get as many people along (and not just space fans like you!) to experience it and that is where you come in.
Given that this talk is all about sitting there and oohing and ahing at the creepy sounds from space, and not a high-brow scientific event it should be the ideal opportunity to introduce everyone you know to some of the fascination of our hobby as well as giving them a great night out (there's even free food afterwards!).
I really hope I will see you all there as we have gone to a lot of expense to bring in International Speakers like Lewis Dartnell and when you come along on Monday you will find out why it is worth it.
For those of you outside Dublin or who cannot make it on Monday we're recording the event on DVD which you can get for the same (small) price as a ticket to the event.

And order the DVD at www.astronomy.ie/dvd
See you all there!
