2. Astronomy Tips For The Week
  • The International Space Station (ISS) is visible each evening until January 23. For times to view it text SPACE to 57003. Each text costs 1euro and proceeds help us promote astronomy in Ireland. Alternatively you can call our Newsline on 1550 111 442 after 6pm.
  • Mars features prominently in the night sky at the moment and is rising earlier and earlier each evening. It can be seen in the Eastern sky as a bright orangey-red 'star'. As well as this, Jupiter is getting lower in the evening skies, but still worth seeing through binoculars or a telescope after sunset. Telescopes available in our Shop will allow you to see the canyons and ice caps on Mars and Jupiter's larger moons.
Details of these celestial events (and many more!) can be found in this month's issue of 'Astronomy & Space' magazineRemember each time you see any of these exciting space events, email your report to observe@astronomy.ie and we will do our best to include it in a forthcoming issue of 'Astronomy & Space'.
