Next Wednesday there will be a partial eclipse of the Sun
visible from Ireland with between 20% and 15% of the Sun being covered between
approx 10:50am to 12:15pm (Irish Summer Time - remember clocks go forward
tonight, March 25/26).
(The Shop and office will be open all week however, and
there will be an informal viewing from the Shop on the day.)
But for the 5 million of you left on this island our
magazine's Sky Diary writer, David Grennan, has prepared this FREE webpage for
you to get all the details you need to enjoy it from Ireland:
(P.S. note that there is an error in the diagram in the
second column of page 23 of the March issue of our magazine - the times give are
U.T. so you must add 1 hour to get Irish Summer Time which will be in operation
at that time - queries to skydiary@astronomy.ie )
SAFE VIEWING:
The safest way to view the partial eclipse from Ireland is
using AstroSolar filter sheet material which is available from our Shop on (01)
847 0777 but order soon as already ALL of our smaller Eclipse Shades have sold
out!
if you live in the Leinster area you'll find a map to the
Shop at www.astronomy.ie/shop.html otherwise,
call early on Monday morning to mail order your AstroSolar if you are to stand
any chance of getting it in time for Wednesday (the Shop staff can courier it to
you for an additional charge - ask for details when you call).
Please pass this email on to everyone you know and let's
get everyone in Ireland watching this, the last partial solar eclipse visible
from Ireland until August 2008!
