[Astronomy Ireland] Venus approaches Saturn, Two Public Lectures

SATURN AND VENUS Don't forget, the coming days see Venus pass close to Saturn in morning skies. They'll be just 2 degrees apart on August 31 and close for several days (now and all of next week). It should be a spectacular sight to the naked eye, and a great photo opportunity. IRISH SKEPTICS SOCIETY LECTURE SEPT. 1 Physicist Kevin Nolan will present the next public lecture to the Irish Skeptics Society entitled "The Scientific Response to Creationism" on Wednesday September 1st at 8pm in Buswell's Hotel, Dublin 2. Dr. Nolan is a regular contributor to Astronomy Ireland's 'Astronomy & Space' and always makes interesting reading. Kevin is a lecturer in Physics at the Institute of Technology, Tallaght and currently completing his PhD in astrophysics on image analysis software for the European Space Agency. ASTRONOMY IRELAND LEINSTER AREA LECTURE SEPT. 13 In his first ever lecture to Astronomy Ireland the Director of Armagh Planetarium Dr Tom Mason will speak about "Mars - Life in Hostile Environments" on Monday September 13th at 8pm in the Henry Grattan Building, Dublin City University.
