Magazine Offer (3 Issues Free) Events DVDs Shop 1. Nationwide Jupiter Watch This Friday, September 25, Astronomy Ireland will hold Jupiter Watches at various locations around the country. Jupiter Watch is being run in conjunction with Culture Night 2009 which has events running around the country. On Friday, we will set up very powerful telescopes and through these you will be able to see Jupiter, the largest planet in the Solar System, as well as several of its larger moons and the famous Great Red Spot. Jupiter Watch begins at 9pm this Friday, September 25. This is an entirely FREE event and we encourage you to come along and bring as many family and friends as you like. For more information and for details of your nearest watch click HERE. 2. Last Chances To See ISS Thursday, September 24 is the last chance to see the International Space Station (ISS) blaze across the sky for another few months, and it may even pass on front of Jupiter as seen along a line from Ballina to Naas. For times to view the space station there are predictions on the internet, however to receive a reminder to your phone just a couple of hours before it passes, text the word SPACE to 57003. Each text costs ?1 and proceeds help us to promote science and astronomy in Ireland. Remember to email what you see to observe@astronomy.ie each time you see ISS and we will try to include your report in the forthcoming issues of 'Astronomy & Space'. 3. 'Eye on the Sky' Astrophotography Competition The DCU Astrophysics Group has extended the deadline of its 'Eye on the Sky' astrophotography competition to September 30th. This competition is open to the public and prizes include solar telescopes, binoculars and laptops. For more details please visit www.astrophysics.dcu.ie. 4. Events a..
