Astronomy Tips This Week a.. Tonight, just a few minutes after sunset, a very thin crescent Moon will be visible in the West. Just below it, and close to the horizon, you might just be able to make out the planets Venus and Jupiter. They are located right beside each other. NOTE: This conjunction may be difficult to see due to the Sun's glare, please do not try to find these planets with binoculars or a telescope, as sunlight is extremely dangerous when focused onto the eye, and can cause permanent blindness b.. A strong stream of particles from the Sun reached Earth last night, and aurora (also known as Northern Lights) were spotted from Northern Ireland. Did you see them? If so, please send your reports to observe@astronomy.ie so we can publish them in our magazine, Astronomy & Space. c.. For more information on what to see in the night sky this week check out the Sky Diary section in the February issue of 'Astronomy & Space' magazine. Remember, email what you see to observe@astronomy.ie and we will try to publish your pictures and observations in forthcoming issues of the magazine. 3.
