The Life of Galileo The theatre group Dublin Lyric Players, in association with Astronomy Ireland, are proud to present a production of Bertolt Brecht's play 'The Life of Galileo' - a classic play about the later years of the life of Italian scientist and philosopher Galileo Galilei. As part of the celebrations for the International Year of Astronomy (IYA) - inspired by the 400th anniversary of the first use of an astronomical telescope by Galileo Galilei - the Dublin Lyric Players and Astronomy Ireland have teamed together for the production, commonly regarded as one of the finest plays of the 20th century, and a brilliant artistic expression of the mind and times of one of the most remarkable figures in world history. The performances take place at 6:15pm from Monday to Friday, July 13 - 17. The venue for the performance is 'The Atrium' - a state of the art exhibition space at the centre of the Headquarters of the Office of Public Works, 51 St. Stephen's Green, Dublin 2. Carolyn Porco Lectures - Cork and Armagh Professor Carolyn Porco, head of the imaging team on the Cassini Mission to Saturn and its moons, will give a series of public lectures in Ireland over the coming week. Prof. Porco will present images and the latest findings from this outstandingly successful mission, including last week's discovery of water on Saturn's moon Enceladus.
